Okay, I feel like a moron here, but I'm confused, and I can't seem to find this in the FAQ...what are levels with movement good for? For example, I see a character with "+3 Levels with Flight". What does this mean?

According to FREd p. 242, Skill Levels with Movement can have several uses: they can lower the Turn Mode by 1 for each level; add +1 per level to any roll required to land in a particular hex; can increase accelaration or deceleration by 1" per hex per Skill Level; or can add to DCV if a character uses any maneuver which adds bonuses to his DCV while he's moving. (The latter two are at GMs discretion.) Two-point Levels apply to one type of Movement, while three-pointers work for any Movement that a character has.
You're not a moron, Immortaldreamer; you just have to get used to finding stuff in the book. I found this info in the Index under "Skill Levels: Movement Skill Levels." Just keep telling yourself, "The Index is my friend." ;)

This is one of the very few problems I've had with "Fred"; there's a section on Movement Powers in the beginning of the Powers chapter, then listings for each individual power, then more "power" info in the combat sections.
If I hadn't learned about the Joy of Movement Levels back in the 1st ed, I'd still be clueless. They seem to keep getting buried, somehow.
As if someone was keeping them a secret...<suspicous glance>

I agree with you, DG. IMHO FREd is not terribly user-friendly to newbies in its organization. The index is a marvel, but if you're not sure of what something you want is called, the index may not be of much help.
One thing that I find really useful for keeping track of a lot of stuff in the 5th Edition rulebook is the free PDF of the "Hero 5th Edition Indices" available via the Free Stuff link at the top of the page. These are alphabetical indices for Power Modifiers, Disadvantages and Sample Powers in FREd and several other of the new Hero Games books. It's my hope that the eventual revised version of 5E will have something like this included to supplement the index.
Anyone who hasn't seen these indices before can download them from here:

I'm glad someone agrees it's not terribly user-friendly in it's set-up. Yes, the 5th ed expands upon and explains in detail a great many problems that have bothered players in the past. The index is almost the only way I bother looking for anything anymore unless I really know where something is, by page #.

Yellow sitcky notes are a life saver on the oft flipped to sections. Frameworks, CSLs, Combat :)

Yeah, the movement skill level text is the same place as it was in 4th...but with costs listed (unlike 4th).

And just like in 4th, the left out the section for Swinging in the movement section of the book. Every other form of movement gets a detailed explanation, but not Swinging.
And the "Teleportation Damage Table" has overlapping entries for 9-11, just like it did in 4th Ed. They just copied it verbatim into FREd without looking at it. Fortunately, the do provide a fix in the errata.
A long time ago, I sent a long snail-mail that mentioned both of the above problems, along with the missing Movement Skill Levels in the BBB, but it apparently never got to the right people to fix them in FREd.
