Hello all,

I am working on a sort of 'mini-game' that will allow my players and I to play out the creation of the game world. The idea was inspired by the out of print game system; ARIA.

The first part that I'm working on is compiling a list of Special Abilities and Disadvantages that are genetic and thus representative of an entire species, such as all Dwarves are stumpy, all Orcs have fangs, all Elves are long-lived...etc.

In order to get a rather extensive list, I would love it, if you folks could post any ideas that you have. Below is what I have already. Eventually, I'll post a link to the list as a prefab for use among the folks here like the Master List of Limitations on the Global Guardians site.

In Hero 5th, you use Shrinking and Growth powers for characters who can change their size; this is primarily so that people who, say, Suppress Growth or Shrinking powers don't suddenly make all the halflings grow and ogres shrink. If they can't change their size, they just take characteristic modifications, additional abilities to represent their size, and a Physical Limitation for the negatives.

For instance:
Dwarfism I:
-3 STR = -3
-2 BODY = -4
-1 PRE = -1
Easily Hidden: +2 with Concealment; Self Only (-1/2) = 3
Hard To Hit: +2 DCV = 10
Physical Limitation: Small (about 1m, 25 kg, +3" KB) (Infrequently, Slightly Impairing) = -5
Total Cost: 0

Dwarfism II:
-5 STR = -5
-5 BODY = -10
-5 PRE = -5
Easily Hidden: +4 with Concealment; Self Only (-1/2) = 5
Hard To Hit: +4 DCV = 20
Physical Limitation: Small (about 1m, 25 kg, +3" KB) (Infrequently, Slightly Impairing) = -5
Total Cost: 0

Giantism I:
+5 STR = 5
+1 BODY = 2
+1 STUN = 1
Heavy: KB Resistance -1" = 2
Physical Limitation: Large (2.66m tall, 200 kg) (Infrequently, Slightly Impairing) = -5
Total Cost: 5 points

Giantism II:
+10 STR = 10
+2 BODY = 4
+2 STUN = 2
Heavy: KB Resistance (-2") = 4
Physical Limitation: Large (3.33m tall, 400 kg, -1 DCV, +1 PER Rolls to perceive) (Infrequently, Slightly Impairing) = -5
Total Cost: 15 points

This has the added advantage of allowing you to more easily customize for specific races, like say a Diminutive race (Dwarfism II) which is not as good at hiding itself (reduce Easily Hidden).

Ok, thanks, I'll adjust for that in my system.

Anyone want to contribute anything to the list? I'm woefully short on the Disadvantages list and I'm positive there could be more Special Abilities.

I do intend to hit my Rolemaster Talents and Flaws book for more ideas when I get home this weekend.

Yep - I took apart the stuff from the Fantasy Hero/Turakian Age packages in order to create my random package creator page (http://www.curufea.com/games/western/5e/packages_f.php).

The data is uses is in the form of text files. The file you may want to look at is-
http://www.curufea.com/games/western/5e/t.txt

Which lists the traits.

Er, no. Why? What did you do?

Worldmaker was banned because of something he said, not because he provided tons of worthwhile material freely on the Web.
