I've been working on a HERO campaign set in the Forgotten Realms world for a while now and I finally have the very basics worked out.

Right now, I have just the stuff I'd need to get my campaign up and running: Package deals for all the major PC races from the FR sourcebook and a simple magic system. More will almost certainly added later.

The magic system is NOT intended as a straightforward translation of the one from Dungeons & Dragons. I have no interest in that. I only wanted something that was simple, balanced and preserved the distinction between arcane and divine magic in the Realms.

Anyway, I'd love any feedback you might have. I know the deep gnome package deal is ridiculously expensive, but believe it or not, I've already had to cut or tone down a lot of stuff from the source material to bring it in under 100 points! Deep gnomes are the most stupidly powerful PC race in FR for some reason. :)

If it's busy, try back later.

Very good! I am working on my own Forgotten Realms stuff, I will have to compare. Races of Faerun is a most excellent book, have you gotten it yet?

Pretty cool. Too bad I can't talk my players out of 3rd edition...

BTW the Dark Blue on Black is really really hard to read.

Okay, the negative first. I have to agree with Tasha about the Dark Blue foreground on Black background. Way too hard to read. Thank goodness the main text is White.

Okay, the negative is now over. Looks like you put some serious hard work into converting the setting. I haven't read the D20 Forgotten Realms, but the racial packages are evocative of the "feel" of the Faerun. I think that your magic system is quite reasonable. I assume that it is the same one that you used to build a mage character in another thread. As I stated there, I see nothing that would be unbalancing to any game. Besides, it is internally consistent.

Let us know how any play tests turn out.

I'll make some corrections soon. The blue on black shows up great on my monitor, but I guess I'll lighten it a little.

An FR page with no Elminster write-up?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the guy. :D

Maybe that's 'cause he has a habit of showing up with Mordenkainen and raiding the fridge......

That's a nice start. I do have a question for you. In your game, how often do you award experience and how much XP do you usually award?

Going by the standard xp rules it seems to me that will will take a truely LONG time to gain enough xp to mimic some of the classes and abilitied in Forgotten Realms, especially for spellcasters to start to create magic items.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys! I changed the color scheme to be a little more readable, added a clickable table of contents for easier browsing and refined the Package Deals and magic system a little more.

Any suggestions for what you'd like to see next?
