Yay, first poll! I loved this game and enough talk was about it that the following question came to mind.

What was your favorite character race in Star Frontiers?

Mine was the Yazarians. The gliding and basic pack mentality appealed to me. I liked a little bit about each of the others but the 'monkeys' were my overall favorite.

I went with Vrusk. In most Sci Fi, you have to kill the bugs, in Star Frontiers, I got to BE one. :)

I had always wished there was a splatbook of sorts for Vrusk. Something to further explain their culture and the whys of it. Their famlies are their corporations... or business partners. It might seem dull...but when you mix free will with a hive complex... one can really play it up as an admirable kind of loyality. This goes double for the Adventuring Vrusk who have no Company/Guild beyond their friends.

Oh well, maybe it's just me. :)

Dralasites are also a blast to play, I enjoy their sense of humor.... never really got into Yazarians.

I always wanted to play a Mechanon from Zebulon's Guide to the Frontier, Vol. 1. :)

Well, there are also the Zethra, the S'sessu, and the Saurians from old Dragon Magazine issues. :)

Bugs rule baby!!! For some reason I really liked having chracters with extra manipulatory limbs.

THIS surprised me (Pleasantly), if you are missing any Star Frontiers supplements or even looking for one of those old Dragon Magazine articles, here you go...

I liked the Saurians from Dragon Mag, but if I had to select from the core races I have to go with the Dralasites. I was always partial to the animated 'Shmoo.'

I always liked the Vrusk the most, but I also have something of a soft spot for the Dralasites... I just wish I knew why... :p

I didn't include other races because I just wanted to keep it to the basic 4. ;)

Probably a wise choice. Everyone who played the game is familiar with those four after all. :)
Wow, other Vrusk fans. In my gaming group of old, I was the only one!

I never liked the Vrusk. I guess it was due to their basic shape and imagining how hard it would be to do something like just sit down in a car or so on. I am not a big fan of non-humaniod shapes.

I also liked the Dralasites. Between seeing only in black and white and the bad jokes, I had too much fun. Their rather slow stretching though was something I hadn't counted on.

Dralasites for me. I actually liked all the races for their individual strengths and limitations, but the Dralasites just seemed like a pretty cool deviation from traditional animal/insect adapted base forms. Too bad I never got to play Star Frontiers. I just read the books.

Bugs all the way baby!

How can you pass up ambidexterity and the highest shooting skill in the game?

Heh... I sheepishly admit one of my Vrusks was a gun fighter who was, well, almost cheesy in his aim.

My favorite bug that I played though, was T'Klick, a vrusk zeno-psychologist who worked as the group's shrink. Led to some fun moments :)

Deffinatly a Dralisite kinda guy here.

I thought they were very alien at the time. (teenager in the early 80's) Plus I liked there corny sence of humour, and the ability to stretch and change your shape was handy too. Aldso enjoyed trying to raise my lie detection abilities. Not to mention being strong was fun too.

I wish I had gotten a chance to play. I looked through a book a time or two, but that is all.

glancing at the rules for the races, looks like someone ELSE was a Herculoids fan. :)

I looked through the rules some more. I think I like the Osakar. :) Not sure about personality, but they are certainly interesting.
