Port Angeles is a ways out for me, and I work starting at midnight Tuesday-Saturday/Wednesday-Sunday, depending on how you look at it.

On the up side, if the time works out, I suppose Cancer and I could carpool...

We're moving in June...
We're very excited about the move. All except for the part where we have to leave the people we've gamed with for more than 20 years. Port Angeles is rather small and the prospect of finding gamers, especially Hero gamers is not too good. That's one of the hard parts about the move.

Another good place to look for contacts might be Metro Seattle Gamers, the org that runs the local con, Dragonflight (www.dragonflght.org). It's right in the heart of Seattle (well, the con moved to Bellevue last year, but it's the same in relation to PA), but might have subscribers who are closer. The con's in August.

There are also gamers in Vancouver, BC, just a ferry ride away, though I only know a couple personally and don't know the scene there at all.

We - our whole family of me, wife, and 13-yr-old son - are all gamers, and it's just possible we could make a trip out sometime (BTW, Cancer is my brother, so we might even make a double-family trip out of it).

Well, there are a few of us over on the other side of the state. If you want to car pool over to Spokane I am sure we can find soemthing to do. But as I drove across state for VS Tourneys to the point of burnout... and that was only one a month or so, it is not a prospect I encourage anyone to consider.

If ever I am staying with my in-laws in Olympia, I may just log on here and see if there is any room for an extra scrub in anything you guys got going on.

As next summer draws closer, I'll pick this up again. What with kids, Port A is out of our normal range, even though our house is only 10 minutes from the Edmonds ferry terminal. But we usually spend 1 week every summer in Port Townsend, and the Port A - Port T distance is manageable.

You guys definitely have to spend at least a day exploring Fort Worden, right next to Port T, a big old circa 1900 US Coastal Artillery fort. The guns are long gone, but approximately everything else is still there. It'd be a helluva place for a live-action game of some sort. They sell maps of the place that are absolutely prime game setting materials ... they're copyrighted, so I haven't had one scanned and uploaded here.

We stayed a week at Tongue Point years ago. We always managed to get back after gate close and would have to walk back through the park to get to our tent trailer. We took a wrong turn in the dark one night and wound up walking through one of the old gun emplacements. Extremely creepy at night with no one around, especially if you had no idea it was there or what it was (flashlights don't revel much).

As I've said before: We live in Seattle, but only about 15 minutes from the Edmonds ferry terminal. Even so, Port A is too long a haul for a regular engagement :(. But given that we spend some time each year at my mother-in-law's place in Port Townsend, which is roughly an hour from Port Angeles, special-event games when that happens are a real possibility. When you're settled there and we know our travel schedule better, we can swap PMs and see if we can hammer out an engagement :). Both I and my wife game, and with luck, the 9- and 10- year olds will be doing it by then too (the first session is tomorrow night ).

I like supers mostly. I'm a big fan of Bronze/Tarnished Silver Age stuff. My favorite game when I was still playing was a 4th Edition Dark Champions game I ran/played in back in the early 90s. We were a loose cabal of costumed vigilantes who got together to handle problems in the Champions Universe. We were sort of a cross between Heroes for Hire and The Defenders. I played a guy called Iron Knight. He was outfitted sort of like a mounted knight, but with modern materials and a motorcycle.

I would do a more traditonal Teen Titans/X-Men/Avengers thing too.

If I were to run something again. I would most likely do a modern fantasy game in the style the Sandman comics, with big helpings of the X-files, Unknown Armies and Call of Cthulu (Delta Green) thrown in. I probably will never run a game though because work would always get in the way.

I will have wheels once I get there so I can drive a bit for games.

We're still here and still moving. (paradoxical as that sounds). The house is on the market and we are due to move the middle of next month.

No, we are here. Several of us are gaming pretty regularly on Sunday afternoons now. The problem would be that we are already it bit crowded in the tiny space we have... we'd have to find another place to meet if we wanted add players. Bu, maybe we could do that....

Okay folk I told my company I would do one last two week gig for them so I should be in Port Angeles by mid-june. Even if there is no room in the games you have now ,I would still like to meet Ya'll as I will be new to the area. New friends are always a good thing I find. I also fight in the SCA, play paintball, do anything outdoors, and will be working as a diver on the off chance any of that interests you. I am also looking for someone to teach me how to play Mandolin on the off chance you guys know someone.

My e-mail is hewhosleeps@yahoo.com (read to much lovecraft late at night and you end up with a e-mail that sounds like you are a narcoleptic).

I wish I could be in PA by mid-June. The housing market in Fresno is not doing well and we have been delayed. July is looking more likely now. And yes, I'd like to meet.

Well I am sorry to say my date to get there has been pushed back a great deal ( at least a couple months) as I got a offer for a project in the south east and between the money and the chance to ply my trade in a new place it was to good to pass up. I will be getting there sooner or later just not as soon as I thought, and I still look forward to meeting all of you.

It's cool. We'll meet up eventually. We are leaving the 12 of July, house sold or not.

Well I will be leaving Hattiesburg MS in a couple days and heading west to Vegas. Once in Vegas I will grab a few things out of storage, hug a few people, take care of some things and then headed north getting to Port Angeles no later than the 11th.

Who's running the game and where?

Hey Gang,

It's been awhile since I visited the thread.

But a trip and a banged up rental car later, my fiancee and I will be moving into our place on Capitol Hill in Seattle around Sept. 1st. Just wanted to get an update on how the Port Angeles Mob is fairing...

Seattle just blew me away after 4 years in LA, PA must be a nice switch from Fresno?

Love to get an update on your moving/selling progress.

And I'm guessing it's too much to expect to meet you guys at GENCON?

Moving is great, selling not so good. We've still got a lovely house on the market in Fresno. Here's hoping for some action soon. Here is beautiful but we don't have a game going yet. I met a Magic and WoW player yesterday. It made me wish for the secret gamer handshake! Hope to hear you're here!

Good luck and I hope you can manage a game sometime soon. It might even be worth taking the Coho for :)

Hey Lem,

Didn't realize you were in Victoria... I'm thinking of going to the Con in Victoria that happens in October (can't remember the name)... is it worth a visit? Any advice on what method from Seattle would be the least expensive?

Thanks!

Yeah, take the Edmonds/Kingston ferry, drive to Port Angeles, game with us, take the Coho ferry to Victoria!

What susandwyer said about getting here. Port Angeles is the easiest way (my brother lives in Seattle so it's something I have to know).

I haven't been to a game con at UVic for a good 15-20 years but as I shouldn't be too busy I may try to catch it this year.

Chilly for those of us used to desert.

Hey Matt, it was nice to see you! Maybe we'll have a gaming group soon!

Chilly for those of us used to desert.

After 4 years in the San Fernando Valley (not to mention growing up in the humidity of middle Georgia) I'm looking forward to the temperate rainforest for a few years.

See you Port Angelinos soon!

I went through Port Angeles yesterday when I was driving around site seeing. Port Angeles seems to be a nice town. It is next to the ocean on one side and it haves the Olympic Mountains on the other side. It is a small town, but it is large enough to have any stores that you would need.
