A HERO martial artist wants to break his opponent's neck.

How can he do it?

Do your nastiest attack as a called shot to the neck...or head. The multipliers should be enough to snap any normals neck.

Disabling Techniques are covered in the UMA on pg. 157. It is a special move using normal techniques. If you don't want this to count as a crack like you are refering to, than you most likely want to build it as a new power that makes use of a Major Transform.

Aren't there rules in the core book for severing limbs? That should work for breaking them, too, right?

Hey Yamo,

In all seriousness, BODY damage is defined as breaking bones and serious internal injuries. Any HKA will do if it exceeds defenses. I seem to remember that breaking an arm would be about 3 body, so a neck can't be too far from that. For the "Ye old necksnap autokill" you can either do a Called Shot or create a new power, which was already suggested.

Old Dark Champions had a neck hit as a -12 modifier, half that if you surprise someone, as in sneeking up on a guard on watch. Wouldn't have to necessarily be an HKA if the attack was high enough. As an example, I know on Mike Surbrooks web site he simulated the old DnD "sword of sharpness" as an sword with +8 OCV, since thats all you'd need to hack off a limb.

Another way to do it would be an HKA, NND(3), only to break necks, must be behind suprised opponent (-1/2), only with humans (-1/2).

Of course, you might not nead anything, if the victim is already unconscious, then its an autokill.

The one problem with any of this would be "whats good for the goose is good for the gander"; if a GM lets you do it, then you'd better learn how to defend yourself from it.

Just my 2 cents.

I think you would either use a major transformation or link a major transformation to the approprite maneuver.

remember , you can break a neck with out killing someone.

Under the Martial Arts section in Combat Manuevers (P. 265)
KILLING STRIKE says it includes snapping the victims neck etc.

You may also consider a CALLED SHOT TO THE HEAD (P. 276) [since Neck is closest to the Head among the locations named]. This multiplies the Killing Body Damage by 2 , so if you do enough damage (P 278-279) you may Disable the victim , possibly permanently.

Killing strike/Killing throw + Penalty skill levels = death dealing Kung Fu master.... what level are you working in? at the heroic level mooks die easy so this is an easy one at higher levels HKA might model it better....

Or the Joint Break move applied to the neck.
