Re: Life Support Question

Well, sure, she can still drink alcohol. I think what you’re asking is, “can she still drink alcohol without potentially harming the fetus,” correct? The answer to that is No. Without getting into the whole insane debate over abortion and when life begins, for Life Support rules purposes a fetus is a separate individual, and the fact that the woman has LS doesn’t mean that her fetus, her husband, her other kids, or anyone else does — it’s her Power alone.

Hey, you should see some of the weird stuff I've done in games I've run.

In that case, I suppose her immunity to radiation won't help the unborn, either?
I wouldn't think so.

But about immunity to high/low pressure?

Diseases and Poisons?

What about other defenses - do armor and force fields of the pregnant woman protect the fetus?

The palindromedary wants to know if the pregnant woman needs to buy an advantage to cover the fetus with her powers - and if so, what advantage?

Let’s apply a little common sense here. If the Life Support or Defense Power protects the woman from outside attacks, the way most Defense Powers and LS: Safe Environment (High Pressure) do, then it seems reasonable to extend that protection to a fetus. If LS or some other Power is intended to protect against “internal” attacks, such as alcohol, poisons, or diseases, then generally that protection should not extend to the fetus. If that doesn’t satisfy you, just use your own judgment. I can’t imagine this issue is likely to come up too much in most campaigns, after all. ;)
