Would it be possible (or is it already) to have a page in the store that displays items recently added, or in order of newest to oldest? I.e., so I can quickly find the latest HERO books and buy them, as opposed to scrolling through the master list to spot new books?

Or, maybe even better, a "book registration" (kind of like O'Reilly uses for their technical books). You can come to the Hero Games web site, and "register" which books you own (by entering in their ISBN numbers). Then, you can have it display just books you don't own. You could also use this information to set up things like email notifications (on client request, of course) when new books appear in the Online Store, or when new versions of registered books become available, or when errata are posted for registered books, etc.

Maybe Ben or Tina can just come over and take your order too. ;)

As long as there's an option to look at everything as well, just in case a book needs replacing (or you want to give Hero as a present).

I concur.

We need a "new products" sort to the page...I'm often shopping with a wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket but can't find the new stuff easily...and I can only buy SO MANY duplicates :D

Yep. I've basically taken Darren's plea to use the DOJ store to heart; I've stopped buying HERO books via my buddy's mail-order service and go strictly through DOJ. Ergo, I'm constantly ordering the latest books. If there were an easy way to see everything that's new, it makes it easier for me to place orders.

Actually, I'm with the Rhino here - I think it'd be much easier than plugging in ISBNs - just use Amazon's model - "Click here if you own this book." Poof. Then button: "Only books T% doesn't own" and "All Books." "All new books in (pick one): Last 3 months, 6 months, 05, 04, All Books."

I know diddly about coding, but I can't imagine its insanely complicated.

I also know diddly about coding, but I wonder whether what's cost-effective for Amazon is cost-effective for Hero?

Personally, I'd love to see a "new products first" sort, but could take or leave any of the rest.

A new products section would be nice. Put new things at the top and take them off at the bottom every month or two.

As far as checking off what you already own, I'd much, much rather see an account ordering history listing books, PDFs, character packs, and software purchased by date.

Some online software stores (handango.com) and ebook stores (fictionwise.com) actually make the listing of downloadables a list of links so that you can easily download the software again if necessary. I think this would be a great feature. I've got versions of Hero Designer and character packs lying around on CDs in various places. If my hard drive ever failed, I'd be in trouble. :)

You can check your order history all ready. Log into the Online Store, at the bottom is a link for "Order Status" .. by default it shows your latest order. At the top is a pull down menu with each order's date and an "all orders" option, select that and Voila! All your Hero Games Online Store Purchases with links to downloadable items.

I Built a checklist to mark off what I already have, after a certain mail-order while traveling fiasco a few years ago. Did I mention that I own three copies of TUV? Anyway, I'd like to see something like BarryB's new product section. As for the customized product sheets that would remember what you have or had looked at, I don't think it would be economical for Hero. Amazon and the like recoop losses by selling the data gained as much as by using it themselves.

I own two copies of Bestiary. I bought one from my FLGS, though, so it's totally my fault.

The list of "all orders" is a cool feature. Looking over it, I noticed that almost every book I've purchases from HERO over the past year was damamged. LOL. I'm such a Scrooge...;)

Did you ever notice that the "damaged" books from Hero are usually in better shape than the books from the FLGS? Hmmm......

It's like the Island of Misfit Toys. You're giving the books a good home.

Have I mentioned that I own copies of everything for 5th Edition inclueding 6 Copies of Sidekick, A copy of Hero System 5th Edition and 2 Copies of 5th Edition Revised.

The Sidekicks are for my Players and for Convention Players. I accidentily ordered a 2nd copy of Hero System 5th Edition Revised.

I also bought copies of Hero System 5th Edition Revised for 3 Gamers and gave my Hero System 5th Edition Unrevised ;) to another Gamer.

I convinced the Players in my Mecharrior/Battletech 3025 Hero Campaign and sold 5 more copies of Sidekick.

I hope to promote the game at Wheathertop 2006 Gaming Convention in Vancouver. (I finally got my colour printer, Next I am going to adapt a Convention Game. Hmmm... Me thinks some Thread Necromancy may be in order.)

Now I just have to find a way to select a Digital Hero Character Sheet Format that I like.

Suggestions

Oops Thread Derailment.

To get back to the topic at hand

So was there ever an answer to adding/modifying the store menus?

this is just a thought but wouldn't a list of purchased book help with market research, i buy just about everything but what i don't buy would be vary usefully information for DOJ and if you just look at my on line store purchase you'd have a lossy idea of what i have.

Not only "what", but "how many" would be good too.
