Hard Physical Data (probably at the top level)
Atmospheric Composition
Hydrosphere
Lithosphere
Gravity (and/or Escape Velocity)
Temperature Extremes
Signs of Techtonic Activity

Soft Data (inside the sol-<planet> page)
Sentient Life Forms
Population
Cultural Basis
Major Religion(s)
Traded Commodities
Threatening Lifeforms (including virii, etc.)
Notable Physical Phenomena (Northern Lights, Queen's Falls, etc.)

Also consider that some moons will be habitable. Suggest replacing the "Moons" like with a link to "Satellites of <planet>" which leads to another page formatted like the Planets Page.

For the system page, suggest expanding Star Classification to include Stellar Diameter, Peak Emission Wavelength (or color or temperature if you are comfortable using those scales), and Escape Velocity. Could alternatively include Stellar Escape Velocity for each set of planetary data signifying the speed necessary to escape the stellar system, not just the planet.

I'm gonna have to rep you for that :)

Good point. Uninhabited moons may or may not need their own pages, but inhabited ones probably will. But could using the word "satellites" instead of "moons" confuse some people into thinking of artificial satellites?

Would suggest adding basic "hard" stats like diameter, etc. Under soft, seems like the first entry should be "life Y/N?" before we get into sentient life? What's the easiest way to annotate if the planet has native life and/or has been colonized? Speaking of which, some entry on political structure is needed: is the planet united politically, or is it part of an extra-planetary government of some kind? Seems like some sort of entry on natural resources ought to be included, but I'm not sure if that fits better under hard or soft.

Actually, I wonder if "Atlas Galactica" might be a more accurate name?

I'll change the name :)

Also, if I create several "namespaces, each can have a different template.
So if you put galaxies under "galactica:name of galaxy", systems under "system:name of system", planets and moons that require more detail under "planet:name of planet", "moon:name of moon" then each will give you the appopriate layout/style/template.

I'll set up the extra namespaces now - but not the templates yet, until there has been enough time for everyone to discuss them.

Have a look and edit the examples I've put up so far, at each level.

I'll turn the example entries into templates, so everyone can have similar looking entries once we are satisfied with the result.

Okie dokie, when you create a new page/entry the template should appear for you to fill in.

I'll have to contribute to this project. Perhaps with hard data I've collected for my own (eventual *keeps fingers crossed*) Star Hero campaign!

Do you want people to contribute things of tangential interest, like classic sci-fi references to those worlds, that sort of thing?

I want everything!

However - it may be better to have somethings in the general resource section for Star Hero, elsewhere in the Wiki :)

Actually, scratch the "I want" it really implies that it's my Wiki, when really it should be a community with everyone contributing.
What I really want is to just let it run itself and just moderate any spam that may appear - or fix programming problems for it.

I've noticed a problem in the admin system regarding plugins. One of the PHP commands (implode) is not working correctly, which I presume to mean that because my site is running PHP5, the command is used differently.

Ergo, I am going to install a newer version of the wiki engine.

This should be a seamless process that will only take an hour or so to do.

However, this being computers - just to make sure I'm going to back up all the pages (they're stored as text files).

I'll let you know when it has been upgraded.

Now done. Part of the upgrade includes a User Manager, so in future - rather than spamming these boards with multiple cross posts to every mention of the Hero Wiki in the hope of getting the eye of everyone who uses it, I will just email all the registered users.

So - to all the contributers to this online resource, please register and use a valid email. Just so I can let you know when things change or possible problems.
Feel free to email me as well with problems and suggestions curufea@yahoo.com is my most often frequented address.

Sounds like an interesting project -- good luck!
