I ran across this today, and I couldn't help but think about the universal "sensor technology" that is very common in sci-fi. Looking at how this works (especially the paragraph after the tooth images), I wonder if we are closer to something like that.

Just thought I would share this with you guys. :)

Convert the light into heat, (not hard to do) and you have an extremely efficient way to produce electric power by the standard method (boiling water to turn a turbine).
