We're not yet ready to show either of them, even if we had them both. The next book out is MM, so that would logically be the next cover to appear.

Will the AB1 and AB2 covers be continuous? It'd be awesome if the two books side-by-side combined into a "poster."

Oh, any idea as to a release date?
My mother has asked me several times. She wants to take copies into her school to brag.
Honest. She has. Ever since I told her they were due "really soon."

Well, February for both. Right now if I had to guess, around the 14th for ABI and say the 25th for ABII. We'll know better as it gets closer. dw

No, not really. That doesn't really work well and tends to frustrate artists, if my recollection from the last time we tried it holds true.

While that *would be* cool, I should negative rep you just for making such a suggestion. Really.

Just as an update for those who don't come to the chats, Asian Bestiary I leaves the printer in Canada tomorrow. We'll have the first boxes at Dundracon. So I was only off by a day- not bad. II won't make the 25th, though- I'd now guess the first week of March. (And I just saw the cover for II myself- way cool, and very different for us. I think you'll all like it.) dw

Not to downplay the current cover, but my vote would have gone to the [raksasha I think] tiger samurai beastie, the second pic down in the table of contents page.
Far more dynamic for a cover, and really good work..

The cover graphic given on the website for AB I is a single stylized, multicolored dragon on a white background. IMHO it's not an especially striking image, and the featureless remainder of the cover would not excite me about the contents of the book if I saw it on a shelf.
If that's to be the actual cover, I'm sorry to say that I'm disappointed. :(

I saw it too... didn't 'minimalist sheik' go out like ten years ago?
I'm off to make a character called The Minimalist Sheik... a shrinker with money, style and a right to bear smoothness (large PRE and hypnotics). Ok, I'll stop now.

I like it. But then, I like minimalism, in a game book it catches my eye much faster than the myriad of flash-coloured extra busy book covers out there.

The last four releases (Champions Worldwide (http://www.herogames.com/Products/CWW.jsp), The Ultimate Metamorph (http://www.herogames.com/Products/UMM.jsp), Masterminds and Madmen (http://www.herogames.com/Products/MnM.htm) & Asian Bestiary, Vol. 1 (http://www.herogames.com/Products/AB1.jsp)) have all had covers with graphics on featurless white backgrounds. Methinks we're seeing a trend here, and possibly a conscious style choice for future releases. Personally, I hope not. Presumably the artwork is cheaper that way, because it's certainly not a particularly attractive style IMO. It makes the books look dated and low budget. Again, Just My Opinion.

Much agreement on that. I'm very happy with the current trend in Hero covers. I only hope that it continues.
As a specific note, having seen the ABI cover "in hand", I quite like it.

I'm looking forward to my copy... Hopefully AB2 will be out when I can make my next purchase (March 1st)... If not it has to wait until April.

I'm waiting to obtain mine with fevered expectation, even if I'm not so keen on the cover. Same goes for Vol. 2. Personally I'd buy 'em even if they were wrapped in greasy brown paper, because I know the insides will be solid gold. ;)

I don't actually have my copy yet (was looking at the con), so I haven't looked at the insides much. But what I saw I liked! That goes for ABII as well, having looked through the binder you pointed out in the pic. :D

Agreed, and with LL and Labrat as well.
Though I think that the first three had much more dynamic covers than AB1, even if they were just figures on a white bg. The figures had movement, some style, and they look [for the most part] as if they are interesting characters, with interesting stories. AB1 however, I don't feel that way about..
I don't mind minimalism, but make it dynamic as well if it's going to consist of a single figure on a white background.
My vote stands firm with the rakasha pic. That would have swayed my vote more than the current pic. Poor dragon thing makes me think of Rolemaster.

Certainly. I don't let covers affect my buying decisions. But it's nice if the books on my shelf look nice, too. ;) I don't see anything wrong with stating an opinion on the matter, certainly. Most of the opinions I stated on HERO products tend to be positive, but I have the occasional negative opinion too.

What with already having run a year-plus-long Ninja HERO campaign and planning another one soon, I have and will tend to see the insides of yours a lot. This time I've no doubt I'll be throwing in a lot of stuff from the Asian Bestiaries. Not to metion shamelessly plundering Eos Press's new Weapons of the Gods (http://www.eos-press.com/products-wotg.html) RPG for all it's worth, too. :)

Man, even the cover art is taking a beating at Hero (though, I will say, I think the interior art on USPDB 2 was a step up...). Why not just package them like the stuff in Repo Man? Ie... Solid white cover with Black writing?:)
