Hey gang! Got this note from Dave Gabriel at Kublacon, who is looking for more Hero content for his dandy show. I'll be a guest there myself, Hero will have a booth, fun will be mandated for all. So give it a shot! dw
"Greetings All,
I'm David Gabriel, RPG Coordinator for KublaCon. Just in case you haven't heard of us, our convention occurs over the Memorial Day weekend at the Burlingame Hyatt where gaming fanatics gather together in an uproarious cacophony of gaming pleasure. In years past, we have had well over 100 RPG’s submitted to us (last year we had 127 to be exact) which have covered dozens of different roleplaying systems for our attendees to enjoy.
But I need your help to make KublaCon even better this year. While the RPG presence is looking strong again for 2006, it's missing a critical element for success. You guessed it! Very few Champions and Heroes GMs have offered to host the "other" great gaming system that has continuously drawn RPG players together. We have just a few months to get ready for KublaCon 06 and I'm taking this opportunity to use every trick up my sleeve to entice you to submit your Champions and Heroes events to KublaCon.
If you get your games in early, you will have a private room for your game. For submitting just one 6 hour event (or two 4 hour events) you will get a free weekend pass into the Con, a nifty KublaCon green GM’s pin and you’ll have my undying gratitude for helping out (ok, that may not mean much but if you prefer, I’ll show you the coolest rubber band trick you’ve ever seen at the Con if you ask me about it!) :o)
So, please consider submitting your event at your earliest convenience on our website at http://www.kublacon.com. Just click on Volunteer and fill out the GM submittal form and I'll get back to you ASAP with confirmation of your event. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send me an email.
Thanks!
David Gabriel J

I have made plans to attend KublaCon and have submitted the following four events:
SuperSquad America 2006 (Champions) -- run as one 8 hour event rather than as a 2 round tournament.
The Remarkable Wrong-Righters 2006 (Champions)
Friends of Justice 2006 (Pulp Hero)
Sage of the Smiling Fox (Fantasy Hero)

KublaCon is an awesome show!
I've decided to submit two 4 hour games on top of a bunch of other stuff for the show. One's 'serious', the other's an off-the-wall-okay-why-not?.
Serious: "A Change in Orders" -- Star Hero module that ran well at DDC 2004.
The other is Mad,Mad,Mad..... Galaxy which everyone seemed to enjoy greatly at SoCal. Take One Part Galactic Champs, One Part Tales from the Floating Vagabond, mix, rinse, and repeat :D
I'll post when I hear whether or not something's accepted.
CT
P.S.
David was doing that rubber band trick at SoCal.
Everyone's first response is, ":nonp: ?????  "

Cool, and your desired time doesn't conflict with my games! Yeah! I may get to play it yet.

I was trying to decide whether to run a 2nd game at KublaCon (I just registered, and figured I should at least run another playtest of the game I'm developing).
How about a "weird/occult conspiracies" HERO game? I have one I've been thinking of doing.

I would love to get into at least one of your games!
As an aside, I always thought the original Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World movie would make a great RPG session or two. May have to do some similar plotline for the next Marginally Powered Sit-Com Heroes, which I'm going to set up a thread to look for various ideas for in the near future.

Conspiracy games are always cool, but if you haven't been to KublaCon, you should know that it's considered the unofficial (or is it official?) Chaosium convention on this coast, so if you inject the Cthulhu Mythos into your game there's a good chance that half your players will know more about it than you do (unless, of course, you're an expert yourself on the topic :).)

Thanks for that tip! Fortunately the particular weirdness I'm thinking and now basically confirming to do won't be Lovecraftian, and, now that you say that, it won't enter in at all, since I'm definitely not an expert. I have read most of Lovecraft's work so not without knowledge but haven't spent time on it.

Hey, anyone going to Kublicon - I am wondering if I can get 4-5 people dedicated enough to play a late evening game of Reservoir Witch, basically Reservoir Dogs using the Mountain Witch system. Right now I don't know mujch myself about it, to be honest, I'm just starting to read the system but from prior advice and glancing it should be perfect for this game. I am wondering if anyone would be willing to seriously lock in a few hours during the busy con schedule, when the gaming day is otherwise mostly done? I'm going to run it GenCon, and hoping to get in a game there before then. PM me if interested/serious, please.

If I can get free I'm in, but most of my nights will be tied up either running my own games or taking James Ernest's money at poker. Buzz me anyways and we'll see if we can work it out. dw

Cool, I also got one PM, we'll see, I know it's hard to get ad hoc things to happen. I'll drop a note closer to the time/see you there.

Hey Everyone:
Just thought I'd mentioned that I have written KublaCon to cancel my "Saga of the Smiling Fox" Fantasy Hero game. When I was looking over the work that I need to do on this year's games, I just don't see having this game completed for this year's convention season.

Well, my 2 games got accepted, Cyber NInja Pirates and Idea Man. Unfortunately the Idea Man time slot runs partially against Derek's game.
