AoE Grab to Single Grab

Hydra has 12 tentacles with streching 12". He has 60 strength, and a naked advantage of AOE 1 hex useable on up to 40 strength.

His nemesis, Cancer, has a DCV of 10

Can he make a grab against Cancer with a DCV 3 hex attack at 40 STR, and then next phase, constrict that grip to an attack against DCV 5?

Does he have to use other tentacles to do it, or can he just use the same one?

If he fails to constrict the grab, is Cancer free of the grab?

While I'm at it, if Hydra sweep grabs against Cancer and his 6 mooks and manages to snare all of them with AOE Hex attacks, can he sweep grab with his normal grab the next round to constrict the grip on each of them?

I’m not sure I understand the question. I don’t understand what you mean by “constricting the Grab” — that’s not a game term. If what you’re asking is, “Can a character with Area Of Effect as a naked Advantage for STR, who uses that Advantage for his STR to Grab a target (thus making the Grab against DCV 3), stop using the Advantage in later Phases but maintain the Grab and Squeeze or Throw the target at 1/2 the target’s DCV (as usual for a Grab)?”, then the answer is “Yes.”
