Ok your intelligence has been drained (ohh no woe woe woe is you... woe.)

the question is what will this do? You will act stupid is what most people say.

but will you lose your common sence? Will the memories you have no longer be able to guide you? what about all the aks, ks's and ps's you have?

I just play Mickey.

Guy whom I used to work with when I was in construction. The drugs had fried his brain (particularly LSD).

He could follow simple instructions, but didn't have very good judgement at all. Things had to be very clear, or else you got "mickey's look of stupified amazement" a slack jawed look of pure stunned incomprehension.

I'd limit the common sense aspects too.

Intelligence in Hero terms seems to be as much about speed of thought as it is about breadth of knowledge (which are covered by skills). You think faster, hence respond faster, hence have a higher Per roll. You think faster, hence have a higher ability to recall information (have higher skills).

Slowing down your thought processes should make running your skills much worse. I'd recalculate all the skills based off his new Int. Or, hmmm, maybe just make them all Familiarities instead.

Unless of cource, the character is an idiot savant, then all bets are off.

I suppose it would depend on how low you were drained. In the one instance I can recall of my players getting INT drained (to negative something icky if I recall), the player pretty much sat in his chair flailing his arms and making "BHHHT!" noises with his tongue.

That was a fun scenario. Their first meeting with the press and the matrial artist is drained to negative STR and CON and their super-genius gadgeteer has negative INT. Yeah, that made the people at home feel safe...

Simple. Just hand the character sheet to my the player to my left (one certain player always sits in that seat) and let them run my character for the duration. :-)

Watch Futurama the day the eart stood stupid for some interesting side effects.

Fry: "What are we gonna do?"
Farnsworth: "Duh, I know. Let's play the lottery!"
Amy: "No! Let's buy internet stock!"
Zoidberg: "On Margin. Zoiby wanna buy on margin."
Fry: "Wait a minute. I know what's going on here. You've all become idiots."
Bender: "Hey, let's all join the reform party!"
All but Fry: *yahoo, hooray!*

Hmmm. Personally, I think just being not intelligent doesn't make you a dancing and yelling idiot.

Intelligence, in my opinion, is about how fast you can:

- get clues from information
- learn skills
- understand how a certain object works
- know about the current situation

Of course, there are lots of other aspects, and with an EGO-Drain, the results could be the same.

Keep your memories, skills and powers, but use them at a decreased rate of fastness. It's like somebody has not forgotten about a thing, but needs to really really concentrate to get a clue. An EGO- or INT-Roll with a penalty might help you playing it.

It's all still there...you just have to find it.

Alcohol is, in HERO terms, an INT drain. Therefore, get a lot of your preferred alcohol and...

Or just RP as though you were drunk.
