In my campaign, I impose a DCV/DEX penalty as explained in the optional rules in Fantasy Hero on p. 197 and p. 34 of the Equipment Guide. The way I've been doing this in HD is as a Side Effect on the armor build. The problem is, when the character sheet gets printed out, this doesn't show up except on the armor build. So unless the player (or me as the GM) remembers the penalty or thinks to look under the armor build, it can be forgotten. Is there a way to get this automatically figured into the character's DCV? Or, alternatively, is there a way to add a note so that it will show up on a character sheet near the DCV? Perhaps I should be using a different limitation than Side Effects? Or maybe it would require a custom character template? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Side Effects is the correct (rules-wise) way to construct that.
The problem (from HD's perspective) is that Side Effects is a very generic Limitation -- there's nothing in the rules for a "negative DCV Limitation" which HD could check for.
In short, until such time as the rules are adjusted/expanded to account for such things, there's really not much that I can do.
Possible work-arounds:
1. Utilize an export template that leaves room for "write in" modifications to DCV/OCV.
2. if the OCV/DCV modifiers are constant, use an export template which has them hard-coded in.
3. Use a custom template in which you diverge from the Hero System rules and allow CSV's to go negative. Purchase the negative CSV's as Powers and let the export template handle the rest.

I didn't realize I could do this. I've played around with custom templates a bit, but still a lot to learn. Gave this a whirl and it works. Quite cool! Thanks!

Wow....
;)
Seriously, one word of warning when dealing with that -- Modifiers may act a bit oddly, as there are no real rules in the Hero System for dealing with negative point-cost abilities (quite the contrary, they're supposed to be verboten). HD will calculate the cost as if the ability in question were "normal" -- which may not produce the desired results in some cases.
