We have several Illinois-based Legionnaires, but I'm afraid I don't know IL geography very well -- what's Alton near?

Well, we're 300 miles from chicago, down close to St. Louis.

I think we have a few Legionnaires in that area; I know we have several near St. Louis.

Last year there was a get-together of St. Louis area Hero gamers are Die Con. Looks like there may be another one this year. DieCon this year is June 2 - 4 at the Collinsville, IL Gateway Convention Center.

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself out here last year, Steve. Who knows, maybe you'll get a chance to get out our way again some day.
FYI - Alton is on the Illinois side of the Mississippi river. Due to an East-West jog of the river right about there, it is actually North of St. Louis, which is in Missouri. Alton is also, what, maybe 10-15 miles or so NorthWest of Collinsville, where DieCon is held. I've driven by/through it once or twice. The view of the bluffs nearby is pretty cool and it seems like a nice little town.
I happen to be one of the "Legionairres who live in the Area", although I actually live probably an hour and a half drive away. Are you just looking to hook up for a game or is there something else you need?

We have a group in St. Charles, not sure how long the drive is from Alton over 367, but if you are interested drop me a PM.

I live in Collinsville, south of you.
There is the possibility of a game here sometime, but our regular group usually meets at Blast Furnace's house, and my schedule is kinda crowded for the rest of the year (at least).
Maybe we could get a one-shot game going with whoever wants to play...

We're in the same area code, if you want to PM me we can swap numbers and yak sometime. :)

Heh! As long as it's not A/C season (which it will be soon enough), and I don't have to make food for travel, I'm open to gaming at Scuba's place.
A one-shot game is also a nice treat once in a while. :D
Ooh! Ooh! I know! I know! Wet's Pway Dawk Champions!!! :eg:
(Ignoring the bad toddler accent, that translates to "Let's play Dark Champions!!!", just in case you missed it)

Blast Furnace,
Don't worry, we'll turn the floor fan full on you... (only works to a certain temperature, I know)
I was thinking maybe I could try my potential DieCon 6 scenario???

Schwarzwald,
FYI, Edwardsville (about 15 minutes south of you) is a college town, so there's bound to be some gaming going on around there. Also (though it's been a while since I was last in Alton) I recall there being a couple decent gaming stores in Alton, so you may want to check in with them.
There's also a couple groups in the St. Louis area, though you're getting into longer drives depending on where in St. Louis. If you can get yourself to a Fantasy Shop (http://www.fantasyshoponline.com/Enter.htm) they all have bulliten boards for "game wanted" postings.
Me, I go the opposite direction (Maryland Heights on the west side of St. Louis) to Blast Furnace's house (in IL). Comes in at exactly 50 miles from my door to his. What can I say, I joined the group before moving over to StL for work.
Anyway, here's some other potentially useful resources:
http://www.diecon.com/CSK/default.aspx (the con others have mentioned)
http://www.accessdenied.net/ (check the gamer database)
Good Luck.

Blast Furnace,
With the recent weather, basement temperature has gone from 60 F to 70 F. Doable with the fan?
I'm getting enthusiatic about running a Sidekick Champions scenario at DieCon, and would like to try it out in a 'safe environment' before running live. It's nothing complicated, more intended as an introduction to Hero System for newcomers - basically a superbrawl between hero and villain teams (the 'Campaign City Cavalry' and 'Plan A') but it should be fun and take some thinking and tactics. Five players to fill out the hero group.
Would you run it by the group tomorrow? (I'm thinking do it on a non-scheduled gaming night, so as not to cut into the Rifters campaign.)

As did I. You guys were great, and Scuba and Mrs. Scuba were wonderful hosts. Driving 10 hours to attend a con might have been a bit excessive, but I'm glad I did it.

I'll be there as well though I won't be running anything. You know, we need to get STL Herophile t-shirts or buttons made up for easier identification.

Whoops! I seem to have missed SCUBAHero's 14 April post about trying to game in his basement. :(
Sorry, Scuba. Normal email works much better for coordinations like this for me.
Too bad you're missing the game session today or that would have been an ideal time to try it out.

That's a really good idea. Wish I'd thought of it earlier. I wonder if there are any T-shirt or Button places that have quick turn-arounds?
