Ben, I'm guessing you're the most appropriate person to address this question to: I recently tried to access a multipage thread in the Old Forum archive. The first time I tried I ended up on the last page; subsequently I've gotten into the first one. In no case could I access the other pages by clicking on the number links for other pages. Here's the thread link if you want to reference it:

Is this a limitation on the archive as a whole, or a technical glitch for this one thread? Is there an existing way to call up the other pages on the thread?

No demands from me for prompt action - I know you have higher priorities. Just wondering what's going on. :)

At this point, the threads are only available as static HTML files... none of the buttons work because they're coded to work with the old UBB engine, which doesn't exist anymore.

At this point there is no plan to put that functionality back into the archived boards. I would like to be able to just strip all of that stuff out and just have a plan text page, but that would require a ton of manual work, and itmight mess up the indexing procedures used in the java scripts.

Understood - we'll just have to muddle through. Thanks, Ben.

Ben, when I access the first page of a thread I have its address in the display window; is there a standard symbol I could add to that address that would take me to the second and subsequent pages of the same thread?

Err...you guys do realize that the main thread listing lists each page, correct? If there is a thread with multiple pages, the thread title will be listed multiple times -- once for each page.

If you really MUST go to the next page without clicking on the title for the next page, then you can edit the address in your browser window. Just add a "-X" where "X" is the page number.

...will take you to page 2 of the thread.

I can't speak for Ben Seeman, but I was totally unaware of that! The subsequent pages of a single thread are not listed immediately following each other, but separated by other topics, so it wasn't immediately apparent that there are multiple listings. For that reason adding the following-page numbers to the address may be the easiest way to turn pages.

Thank you very much for that, Mr. Simon! :D
