The Eleven Day Empire
The "shadow" London of the Eleven-Day Empire is a mishmash of time-zones, with streets, buildings and landmarks taken from periods earlier or later than its eighteenth century foundations, and shouldn't be mistaken for the real London of 1752. The authenticity of the Empire's version is irrelevant: what matters is its symbolic weight.
As London has a certain geographical continuity (which is to say, the street layout has rarely changed over two millennia), it's possible to walk along a lane which switches from Enlightenment to Victorian to Roman and back again within the stretch of a few yards.

The Hunt
As far as I can see, from the audio dramas - the Hunt is run by potention Godfathers or Godmothers. If they succeed in the Hunt then they become a godparent.
The hunt involves going back through time and killing your parent, grand parents and great grandparents. The result is to cut you out of time. It also means that enemies of the Faction will have great difficulty in ever using time against you.
Witches
Witches can use rituals to invoke The Spirits, and occasionally use powers that Faction members of their rank can't normally do. I believe the Godmother of the Armoury who performs the Bonding Ritual is a witch.
The Bonding Ritual
This ceremony is where the Godmother bonds a Cousin to a weapon.
More precisely - to the Cousin's Shadow.
The Cousin reaches out with their shadow and grasp a physical weapon (usually a hand to hand weapon) and takes it into shadow. From that point on, their shadow can use it.
Shadow weapons are versions of real weapons that are IIF, desolid, affects the real world. Possibly NNDs that cause body as well (defense is a shadow defense or weapon).
Godfathers and Godmothers occasionally have the power to do their own bonding ceremonies, but usually do not choose weapons. For example, Godfather Morlok wears shadow spectacles that allow him discriminatory senses on the molecular level - he can tell the decay rate of isotopes in fusion weapons by listening to them, or see the DNA of people he is talking to.

Relics
Some weapons and items (probably the above mentioned spectacles) have more power than normal. Very much "magic items" and require particularly strong individuals to bond with them.
The strongest being The Grandfather's Knife. Which includes The Grandfather's shadow. It can only be bonded to a witch who has no shadow.
The Grandfather's Shadow has an infinity of weapons in its arsenal. The Cousin need merely drop what their shadow is holding and they can summon a new weapon appropriate to the battle (even if they don't know what the weapon is. In that case they can work it out very quickly). Unlike other shadow weapons, these can be missile weapons.
Time Travel
The Faction, unlike other Great Houses, does not use time ships to travel through time. Godfathers and Godmothers use their own shadows (which slowly deteriorate with use).
