The cover idea for DH#37 was Sketch's idea. At tomorrow's game, I'll tell my group that it's the new supervillain team in town.

So, which one of them is in charge? How? Why?

Personally, I think Menton is running the show.

First of all, if this group was working together, every other supervillain and hero should emigrate to another galaxy post-haste.

To be honest, I can't see these monumental egos cooperating for more than a very short time. Destroyer, Takofanes and Istvatha would never accept any other beings as equal partners, let alone take orders from any of them. In particular, I can't imagine the Doctor and Menton in partnership again given their history.

If I had to pick someone to be in charge, only Menton would have a chance of controlling the others, and even then only subtly. However, Dr. Destroyer and Istvatha V'han are probably too crafty to allow Menton past their own mental defenses, and Takofanes' spells of protection are just too powerful.

Menton could definitely push Gravitar around to his heart's content, though - she has no mental shielding at all. Takofanes has very effective mind-controlling spells, too, and I'm sure Dr. D or the Empress of a Billion Dimensions could come up with something to bend Gravitar to their will.

Mechanon must have gotten reassembled into team wristwatches.

Maybe the Warlord brought them all together so that they could destroy each other and leave him in charge.

Then Mechanon shows up, takes control of the Warlord's armor and uses it to kill his organic pawn.

I think it sounds like the making of one heck of a major event. What could force these five beings to work together, especially crazy *** Takofanes. What if it is a threat so great that it rivals DC's Crisis on Infinite Earth's. The Secret Crisis was a war fought across Space and Time which affected the Champions Universe in 1985 but can we be sure when and where it started. Could that time be now? All we need is for a beaten, bloody and broken Captain Chronos to appear before the heroes saying, "I finished the.... calculations. It took me... years but you are the ones most likely to.... succeed. You have to stop it."

God, I miss the days when Mechanon threw 12d6 and that was a lot.

Why does everything have to be these huge escalation wars?

I was considering that Mike ;)

As for my vote, I would say that Doc D is the mastermind of this unholy union ... but is it him? I would say it's a Destroy-Bot standing in for him ;) As for Mechanon ... I knew I was forgetting someone ... guess I'll have to spotlight him next time I do a cover ;)
