Everything is improved if Cyber is added to its name. Cyberpet, Cybermat, Cybergun, Cybernaught.

Numbers conquer all problems. Hurl legion after legion at any problem until it is solved. This may not apply to solving crosswords, however.

Doctor: That's a living brain jammed inside a cybernetic body with a heart of steel: All emotions removed.
Rose: Why no emotions?
Doctor: Because it hurts.

Always be sure that your overnight-bag includes the following 10 vital things:
1) Spare batteries.
2) Extra oil for your joints.
3) Reboot-disc (make sure you are NOT running your brain with WINDOWS!)
4) Metal Chixs Magazine
5) Automated Electonic Sheep Counter
6) Extra Arms (just in case you loose one - or you want to do your famous Doctor Octopus impersonation [What a blast at every party!]
7) Rollerblade-Feet (in case you can't get a taxi but you have to get outa Dodge fast)
8) I, ROBOT (vid-disk)
9) Voucher that tells people that you want to be buried in case of death and not scrapped for valuable parts and then melted down - sheesh, just you have less meat inside you than a Conny Island hot-dog does not mean that you don't have feelings
10) Condom (Well, with your Stainless Steel Full AutomatÃ*c Erotic Pleaser 3000 you don't really need one, but ladies like it if their robot-dates show responsibility - so be a gentleman!)

Well the first thing I learned when playing a Cyberman was never to pursue the sneaky little human who insists on running into a jewellery shop while clutching sandpaper and a blowpipe.

Never trust the Daleks.

Gold is a silly weakness. Invest in filters and a self contained air supply.

If you hear the Doctor is around, just cut your losses and run.

If you find yourself having to dealing with human's, consider that the DR might show up....plan for that.

People have nightmares of monsters.
Monsters have nightmares of the Doctor.
Do Cybermen dream of Cybersheep?

You will be like us.
That says it all, really.

Cybermen are what the Borg could have been.

I think the Cybermen would have envied the Borg's ability to instantly assimilate others into their culture (the Cybe's had to do it the long way round)- but balance that against the Borg's crushing sense of racial inferiority at being a rip-off of a forty year old British TV villain and things work out even.
Heh.
Did anyone get to see the latest Dr Who episode "RIse of the Cybermen" this weekend - my word that was splendid - just what the Cybermen ought to be. Heavy steel military monsters.

I liked it, though they may have pushed the Cybers a little too close to the Daleks (Delete! Delete!). It needs to be stressed that the Daleks want us dead; the Cybermen want us to become part of them.
Pretty good ep, but I'm not sure I like Doctor #10. He hasn't yet shown quite the acting chops of #9.

I liked the Madame du Pompador moments - some good stuff there. And with Sarah Jane. I thought they were good acting moments.
As to the new Cybermen - I saw the Confidential as well. All light fibreglass painted burnished steel.
It's a credit to the actors in the suits, that they make it appear as though they are really heavy. They really stomp the ground.
Cybermen were around before nanotechnology nanites were thought of - but on the plus side, vivasection is still more frightening than injections.

I didn't want to derail the thread, but since you saw the Confidential episode were you as blown away as I was by just how much difference the dance/choreography training made to the men in the Cyber suits? Even before they got into costume that moment when it showed them all marching in unison... hell I'd have believed the actors were killer steel robots.
Must remind self never to mock little old choreography women again.

You've got to go for the new cool future-retro look over that old clunky one any day of the week!
If you can travel around in an alternate reality zeppelin, all the better! :)

The old series really suffered from a lack of budget and therefore a lack of proper training for guys in suits.
Plus - in those days the guy-in-suit acting methodology was just being worked out.
It's difficult enough to have an actor portray an elite duelist or dancer, or a veteran millitary or martial artist. You then have to fake skills the actor doesn't have. There's nothing that breaks the 4th wall more than an unconvincing portrayal of things you know (from previous experience, or seeing actual non-actors doing it) could have been done better.
Have a look at Chiana in Farscape, or River in Firefly for that matter - good choreography covers a multiple of uses.

I want to a see a Cyberman who can stomp with the best of them, but be able to run a 6 minute mile if need be. Else you're highly reliant on ladders and chain link fences to slow down your prey.

I think the concept is - they don't need to run. Sooner or later, you have to slow down or sleep. They don't have to. And there are always more of them than you.

Don't forget the Raston Warrior Robot that made mincemeat of the Cybermen in The Five Doctors.

Yes. But the Five Doctors had a single unit of Cybermen. Presumably they would work out a way a defeating the robot with their reinforcements. Cybermen could learn, and did upgrade themselves to stop former weaknesses (the first being plastic eating acid, the second being gold dust, etc)
However - the series is called Doctor Who and is always unlikely to show much of the Cybermen other than imminent menace. Who knows what they do off screen.
We presume competance - because they are universally feared.

Or we could presume telemarketting. Or door to door sales.
