Okay. One idea that sort of caught my attention watching JL show/Superman TAS reruns was the parallels between Superman/Martian Manhunter (yes, I know, nothing special there), and I just thought...
There's like dozens of Kryptonians that made it to Earth, but only one Green Martian?
I don't know exactly how this relates to the 'real' DCU, but...
Okay, the idea is a character who is to the Martian Manhunter what Supergirl is to Superman. A younger female Martian. Not sure what the best origin story would be, yet... but I'm working on it.
Not sure if a relative is a good call either... kinda tossing up on it.
Anywho.
What should she be _called_? I just come up blank on names! So annoying!
Help?

Boyhunter. (Boy crazy alien girl.) No, OK, seriously...
Fire Star, the name for Mars in Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese, based on the ancient Chinese five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

Martian Manhuntress.
Or Martian Womanhuntress, if we assume female Martian law enforcers usually went after female criminals.

Of course nobody actually calls J'onn "Martian Manhunter" on that show anyway. So an easy approach would be to just give her a "real" name, M'aia or Lilis or something, and call her that. Another approach would be to call her "Wraith" (since MM was retconned to have been part of a post crisis Silver Age team called the Justice Experience under the name "Bronze Wraith")

I did try that too; didn't come up with anything. :o
Wraith is a good idea too; didn't know that.

I think I would play on a Daughter of Mars theme.
Harmonia (daughter of Ares by Aphrodite)
Antiope (daughter of Ares by Otrere)
Amazon (the Amazons were daughters of Ares by Harmonia)
Romula (Romulus was the son of Ares by Ilia and co-founder of Rome)
Ares (calling a spade a spade)
Drake (the Drakon Ismenian was the monstrous offspring of Ares by the Erinys Telphousia, appropriate if she broods about being an outsider or "monster" among humans)
Nike (Goddess of Victory, considered by most scholars of mythology the daughter of Pallas & Styx, but Ares is called father of Nike in Homer's Hymn to Ares)
There are plenty more offspring of Ares to choose from, but IMO these were the only ones with decent supername potential.

Second the motion to name the character Fire Star. Shall we continue to discuss, or shall we vote now?

Remembering of course that fire is a martian's one weakness. Naming a martian Fire anything is like calling Superman Kryptonite Kal or Green Lantern ... well ... yellow lantern.
Just a thought.

Or naming a character after the time limit on his powers. Honestly, what was Hour Man thinking?

Spiderman and his Amazing Friends (Iceman and FIRESTAR ) would have an objection to this.
My own take on this: Terminatrix Red ( Hey, those aliens who wiped out Jonn-Jonn's planet might take a female survivor and reprogram her to kill the JL.)

Interesting idea. I was thinking more that a telepathic shapeshifter whose home world was about to be destroyed might be shuttled to the nearest inhabitable world, but that's not a bad idea either.
(How *would* you react if one day you woke up, and the hypnotic blocks stopping you from remembering or using your Martian abilities were gone...?)
I'm liking a combination of Harmonia and J'aen J'onezz (because every superhero needs a codename) at the moment, fwiw.
Thanks to everyone, and please, feel free to keep talking on the idea/names.
