I often see things like IIRC and LMAO. Is their a master list some where some one could point me to find all these meanings?
I am not new to messages boards but I have never really cared before.

I'm not sure if there is a "master list" of commonly-used abbreviations on the Web - there isn't one on this site (other than Hero-related ones, which you can find via the Faq link.) I'll list the ones I can remember offhand:
IIRC = If I Remember Correctly
LOL = Laugh Out Loud
ROFL = Roll On Floor Laughing. Often combined with
LMAO = Laughing My A$$ Off
AFAIK = As Far As I Know
OTOH = On The Other Hand
BTW = By The Way
IMO = In My Opinion. Common variant is
IMHO = In My Humble Opinion
YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary
I'm sure someone will be along with others I've forgotten. :)

IMNSHO = In my not so humble opinion
IDHMBIFOM = I don't have my book in front of me
IOW = In other words (took me forever to figure this one out for some reason).
Can't think of any others offhand.
Helpfully,
Steve

For common Jargon (http://info.astrian.net/jargon)
Emoticons (http://www.won.nl/dsp/usr/mvketel/Internet/emoticon.html)
Acronym List (http://netforbeginners.about.com/library/101/acronyms/bl-acronyms101.htm)
Lookup service (http://www.pconsulting.com.au/netspeak/)
That should cover it. Thought they probably don't have TMTOWTDI.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I feel so enlightened now. I can return to my regular day of starring at the magic box with writing on it.

Just have to throw an interesting gaming related one. I am on the d20 & ODL mailing lists. The traffic there is mostly about the legalities of using the licences and stuff, so a lot of legal discussion comes up... so
IANAL (I am not a lawyer)- used before someone gives thier opinion about legalities, to say "Don't nessisarily trust this".

Could have the oposite meaning. For rules lawers its:
IANAL = I'm Anal
Ok that's not an acronym.

One of my favorites is:
FOWTOSF - Figure Out What This One Stands For.
The other problem is that most of these are not acronyms; they're abbreviations. Those aren't the same thing.
Also, you can check AcronymFinder.com. They've got lot's-o-stuff from many walks of life.

In a future setting, the successors to CLOWN rechristened themselves with that exact name...
