If a character using a mental attack such as Mind Control or Telepathy through Mind Scan has the Mind Scan stopped (perhaps with a Suppress or Area Effect Flash vs mental powers, does that automatically "break the connection" and thus stop the attack?

Would it matter at which end of the connection the Mind Scan was stopped? (Say the target has a Suppress vs. Mind Scan or Darkness vs Mental powers)?

Yes, it breaks the connection, regardless of where the connection is broken.
