Using v1.44.

I am trying to create the Firearms from FRED p.332.
When I get down to the Heavy Weapons (specifically, the M-60 LMG), I have a problem with Autofire.

The book shows AF10, so I selected Autofire as an Advantage to the Killing Attack-Ranged power.
To get to 10 shots, I selected the x2 Shots Adder from the list.
However, the power shows Autofire (5 shots; +1).

Even if I change the Options line in the Autofire dialog box, the Autofire still shows 5 shots.

Am I doing something wrong here, or is this really a problem?

Thanks for you attention.

Just click "OK" to apply the Modifier...the text will be correct in the display when listed with the Power.

I'm still missing a step somewhere.

I clicked OK to apply the modifier to the Power. I clicked OK a second time to close the Power. I clicked OK a third time to close the Compound Power which contains the Autofire power.

The Equipment tab still shows Autofire (5 shots; +1).

Step 1: Smack the Monitor to show the Computer who's boss. It doesnt help, but you'll feel better.

Step 2: Sacrifice a chicken. More or less in the same vein as above, but who knows; maybe a loa will take pity on you.

Step 3: In HD, on the file bar find the Check for Updates option.

Step 4: Use it.

Step 5: Restart HD.

Step 6: Try again. Make sure at the top in the final drop down you have selected 5 shots. Then check the box next to x2 Shots. Hit OK.

Step 7: If it didnt work, get a bigger chicken, start over.

Step 8: If it still doesnt work, try making screen shots of before, during and after. Put them into a zip file with the hdc file as well. Make another post and attach them to it so we can see whats going on.

Thanks, KS!

Tancred, I really cannot get Autofire to act the way you're saying.

It may help if you post step by step instructions on how you're creating the power from the outset (e.g. "Select 'Killing Attack - Ranged', set the level to 4, click 'Add Modifier', open 'Advantages', select 'Autofire', set level to 5 shots, select 'x2 shots', keep level at 1, click 'OK', click 'OK')

When I do the above, either in a Compound Power, or on its own, Autofire does exactly what it's supposed to do....

Thanks, KS, step 1 is very tempting.
I already have v1.44, though, so Check for Updates won't help in this case.

Dan, I cannot reproduce it now. I removed Autofire and added it back, and it is behaving correctly.

The original steps were:
With a large equipment character (the Firearms list, FRED pp332-3) containing multiple lists:
1). copy and paste a Compound power containing a Killing Attack-Ranged which has Autofire x5 already.
2). Open the Compound Power; open the Killing Attack.
3). Click Edit on the Autofire, check the x2 Shots button, click OK to close.
4). Click OK all the way back to the list; the Autofire showed 5 shots +1.

Following these steps now no longer shows the problem.

Next time use a faster chicken.

I can tell you this: I've been through the code for Autofire and there is absolutely no way you can NOT get it to calculate the number of shots for you using 1.44. If you overwrite the "5 shots" in the select, it will ignore that and continue to perform its own calculation....there is simply nothing that you can do to avoid it.

So, either you were using a custom template or you were not using the version that you think you were.
