Starting equipment and prices

I'm planning on running a Pulp game, but I haven't bought the book yet. I'm unsure about the best way to give players starting equipment, and am also unsure about appropriate costs for future equipment. Is this covered in the book? Or, do any of you have a useful system.
Any help would be sweet.

Prices are covered on pages 334-338 of "Pulp Hero". You might also have a look on the net for sites dealing with some of the older "Pulp" games such as "Adventure Inc", "Daredevils" and "Call Of Cthulu" as those sites often have comprehensive price lists.
