View Full Version : my weekly (at least) build question

First off: Thanks to all for good, quick responses to my many rules and build Qs.

The character I'm doing is a digitized human consciousness. His corporal body is probably still lying around, useless due to some impairment, and it probably has to stay connected to the network - I haven't decided that part yet.

Though his consciousness is fully digitized, it can't be copied. However, he can transfer it. In practice, this means "he" usually hangs out in his base's computers, but he also has a combat robot he takes out, and probably a more convincingly human droid form and a vehicle as well. Again, his consciousness only exists in one of these ways at once - he's running the base, or the vehicle, or the combat form, etc.

The combat robot and the humanoid droid aren't really useful to anyone when he's not inhabiting them. The base computer probably has some programs that run without him "there," and the vehicle probably has manual controls.

So...is this MF because his consciousness only exists in one place at a time, duplication b/c the vessels exist even when he doesn't inhabit them, summoning...something else? On a related point, is this a too-cheap way to get these different things?

Thanks for any advice.

Hummm, have to think a moment.......

Build the Main C as an AI, that can take stun. Then build the others as base/computer/vechile/android. Cheap but then they exist when he isn't in them.

I would probably go with Multiform. The base form is more if a Physical lim on the rest I would say. Might even take OIF on the multiform to represent your other bodies could be taken away from you.

Multiform has the potential to be VERY abusive ESPECALLY with 5th Ed. rules.

So the droid forms would be followers, with the major disad of not functioning when they're not inhabited?

yes, that way you have a physical form than can be say stolen, damaged

I'd probably call it Multiform, Only Changeable At Base, and take in all bodies but his original DNPC: Body as a Disadvantage. The other forms are simply fixtures at the base until he assumes that form. Buy the Perquisites (Vehicle, Base, Computer) for any form that can use them.

If there is more of a connection between the original body and the robot bodies, you could buy it similarly to the Astral Projection example in the main book, but buy more bodies. This may be especially useful if you ever expect to have the ability to control more than one body at once.

I have to say go with that, it has all you want with the build and would be fun also.

My thought: Huge frickin' PhyLim Disads. Base with computer, Followers (droids) with almost no programs in them, Vehicle. And Cyberkinesis. Mind Link, four set targets, Mind Control (machine only), Telepathy (machine only). Might need to drop some other limitations on those powers to really simulate the effect you want. He can now communicate and control his mechanical pawns at range through the Mind Link. He can also control any other machines that he has access to through Mechanical Mind Control, because digitized consciousness would be a super hacker.

I think I'll go with the mind control. It doesn't look like he'll be getting stuff too cheaply, because he has to carry all the perks even though he can really only use one at a time.

One weird thing is that the droids are probably the cheapest part, though they're the most useful. The humanoid droid is probably free, since it will be pretty much a normal but with the huge disabilities of no independent functioning.

Thanks for the ideas.
