Hi guys,

It's been a long time since I have tried (or needed) to install HD. But I wanted to install it on my work machine to while away my lunch hour and I'm having a problem.

I downloaded it from my Online Store account and it shows up as "setup1" with no file extension. I add ".exe" to it and try to run it and I get a memory allocation error. I can't for the life of me figure out what I need to do to get it installed.

My work machine is running Windows Server 2003 (which I do not have any experience with as far as installations go) and I don't remember what I did to install it on my home machine running WinXP Pro.

Please help!!

What version of Java is installed on the system?

Hmm, you know I'm not sure. I'll check tomorrow morning.

Sorry for the delay in my response. I am running Java 5

Then try re-downloading the installer. No changes have been made to that file on the server since it was originally put in place, so it's the same file that you downloaded when you first purchased HDv2. Chances are, you simply have a bad download.

I'd recommend downloading the file with a different browser (other than IE, which is stripping the .exe from the file in the interests of "security").

Yeah, it's stripping the .exe and trying to save it as a document. I'm trying again switching the file type to All Files and adding on the .exe myself.

Fingers crossed.

Grrrr....

IE failed again, downloaded Firefox and downloaded that way. Exe failed again.

Trying Firefox download one more time

Damn, that didn't work either. Is there anything else it could be?

If you got the download have you tried just right clicking the file (regardless of what is named or the extension) and select rename then name it HD2setup.exe, or whatever you like so long as it has the exe extension. Then you can run the installer. Of course this assumes that you got a good download. Another thing you might check is to make sure you have cleared your browsers cache so that you are getting the actual file and not just a cached response of a corrupted download.

Yeah, it just keeps giving me the same error. As soon as I finish this compile for work I'm going to reboot and see if that helps since I haven't rebooted since installing Java 5.

Ok, clearing history, rebooting, using a different browser...nothing. Same exact error message everytime.

For some reason I am just unable to install on this machine. :(

The problem might not be HD. Do you have local administrator privileges on your machine?

Yeah, I sure do.
