View Full Version : Prefabs and Templates together/bug

I recently started work on several templates and prefabs for my upcoming Cyberpunk game and discovered what I believe to be a bug.

There were some things that my cyberpunk characters needed that were not included as part of the Heroic template (a custom skill (Cyberware Familiarity) and access to the automaton powers) So, I created a custom template for their use, extending Heroic and copy/pasting the automaton powers into the template. So far so good.

I create the various powers (Pain Control Module and Arterial Clamps) and save the prefab. The next time I load the prefab in Hero Designer (v3), the template shifts back to Superheroic (Standard System) and the Arterial Clamps and Pain Control Module lose their respective powers as the powers that they depend upon are no longer a part of their template.

There have been a couple of threads on this in the past...

Prefabs are not intended to be associated with specific templates -- they use whatever template is in place on the character when they are applied.

When you load a Prefab, it will use whatever Template was last loaded by the application.

If you want to create a template-specific prefab (not really recommended), you'll want to save it as a character file and use the character file for edits (using the "Save As Prefab" functionality when you want to make the character file into a prefab).
