Will newer versions of HD not read the older HD files?
I had a file I created using v1.48 (i think) and someone I sent it to said it came out as XML.
EDIT: Anyone know off the top of their head which or if all HD versions are compatible with Hero Central?
Thanks

1. HDv3 will read all prior file versions. Your friend is likely opening the file in their browser rather than saving it to disk.
2. Hero Central currently supports all versions of HD. In the not too distant future, this will be restricted to HDv3 files only so that I can build in some new functionality.

Weird. When I try to upload to the site it comes out as "Error converting content"

When you tried to upload to which site?
The HD support site requires HDv3 files (and states as much in the error message).
Hero Central doesn't do anything but store the file on the server for download (a feature which will be changing soon enough).

I would post on the general messages forum of HC for that -- this really isn't the place.
That said, your problems are most likely one of:
a) Zone Alarm (misconfigured)
b) Internet Explorer
c) Incorrect file extension
d) User error
