Two things...
Check to make sure that you have the most recent version of Java installed, HDv3 needs it to install and run. If you don't have it you can it get free from Sun Microsystems.
Check to make sure that it is still named HDv3.jar and not HDv3.jar.zip, for some reason IE doesn't like jar files and appends a zip to them. If that is the problem right click the file and select rename then name it HDv3.jar leaving off the .zip. Then double click to install the application.

Is this the install file you download from the HeroDesigner site you can't get to work? Or the program in installs? and do you get an error or just nothing?

Its a .jar file. I tried to open it with Java, and I get and error message. I tried to open with IE and it opens the file in a zip program. I get the same thing from Mozilla. This is the error message.
An error occurred while launching/running the application.

It sounds like it is linked to WinZip (or similar) and not your Java installation, it also sounds like you may have a bad java install. I suggest reinstalling the latest Java JRE.

One other thing don't open the file if given a choice... it isn't supposed to open at all. Once you have a good Java install double click the file to RUN it.

Several things for you:
1. I'm assuming you have not run the installer (since there's no reason for the installer to run without issue but the update jar file to fail). Download the installer and double click it.
2. What (specific) error message are you getting? You sent me an email which had the following error in it:
An error occurred while launching/running the application.
Category: Invalid Argument Error
Could not load file/URL specified: C:\DOCUME~1\DONALD~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\javaws2
Assuming this is what you are referring to here, you are trying to run the update JAR file (incorrect to begin with) from your browser (incorrect in any case) and with Java WebStart (incorrect).
You need to first install HDv3 using the installer provided on the support site. Once installed, you "apply" updates by simply saving the most recent HDv3.jar file to your installation folder (replacing the existing file of the same name). That's all there is to it.
If you're _still_ having problems, please let us know exactly what it is that you are doing to obtain and run the jar file. Also include the output that you see when you open up a command prompt (Start -> Run... -> cmd) and execute "java -version"

I got it installed. I uninstalled the zip program. Unistalled and cleaned out all the java folders. I'll reinstall the zip program and leave .jar associations out of it. Thanks guys :)
