Dan,

I think a friend and I found a problem in HD. The program isn't calculating the Running NCM correctly.

I have a character that has 20' combat and x8 NCM ... should be 160' total. Program is calculating it @ 124. He figured out that it's taking the Running that is bought through Powers and calculating from that (getting 112) and then adding the ncm of the base movement (another 12).

Assuming I've understood you right, and he's purchasing +12" of Running with x8 NCM, then HD"s value is correct.

+12" of Running with x8 NCM = 96" of NCM

8" of Running (from the Characteristics) at x2 NCM = 16" of NCM

96" + 16" = 112"

The NCM multiplier is an Adder. It affects only the Power that it is bought for.

If you want for the character to have x8 NCM on all of his Running, then you will need to sell off the Running on the Characteristics tab and buy it all as a Power. This will give you -12 points for Running on the Characteristics tab, and 50 points for Running as a Power with x8 NCM.

DOH ..

Ok, I didn't explain myself quite right, although I think you got the giest of it.

He bought and extra 14' of running to total 20' for combat.

In any case, I was under the impression that if you bought the power and then clicked the little "Add Modifiers to Base Characteristic" it included the normal 6' of running.

However, it's not a probably to just sell and rebuy. Thanks for the prompt response.

Hrrrm...this actually didn't make too much sense to me after I posted it, so I just talked to Steve about it.

The way HD is doing things would be correct if NCM were a Modifier....it should only apply to the portion of Running that it was bought for.

However, NCM is an Adder, which makes things kinda screwy.

There's a Rules FAQ entry on this which, essentially, takes your stance on things: the NCM multipliers that are bought for disparate purchases of Running should add together. So, you have x8 + 0 (no NCM purchased on the base), for a total of x8 on the overall Running tally.

I'll get this change made for the next update.

Sorry for the confusion!

The problem is that NCM is an Adder, not a Modifier....see my followup post for what should be happening ;-)
