Backstory: I'm developing a background character for my campaign (I am the GM and the world designer). The special effect is that he's a normal who "knows as much as a mortal mind can hold". The game effect is that he has the powers necessary for *acquiring* the knowledge he needs, when he needs it. I'd like to confirm something before I make the character too cheaply.

Seems to me that one of the things the character is going to need is the Rapid Sense modifier, applied to several senses, to allow him to acquire the knowledge so quickly that for practical purposes he "already knew it".

The trick kicks in on Speed Reading. It occurs to me that under 5th Edition Speed Reading is built as limited Rapid Sight, with Analyze for Sight as well. So from where I type, it looks like this NCP wouldn't need to buy both Rapid Sight and Speed Reading -- although he'd still need to pay for the Analyze adder on the sight, I suppose.

Confirmation, please?

If the character already has Rapid for an entire Sense Group, he certainly wouldn't need to buy it for more limited purposes using that same Sense Group.
