It would be nice if you guys could update your website with up-to-the-minute information.

I've been waiting for the Fantasy Hero book for months. Every time I go to http://www.herogames.com/Products/FH.htm there is a Buy Now link, implying the book is in stock. But when I click the link, Fantasy Hero is not listed on the subsequent page!

I know book printing can take months (I used to work at a press) so, at the very least, please remove the link until the book is really in stock and change the text from Buy Now to Coming Soon or something more truthful.

Thanks!

The PDF is still for sale in the Online Store.

Thus, you can still buy the book now. Just not in hard copy.

Sorry, I'll get on updating my website soon, in fact I just committed to spend at least 30 minutes a night going through prior sessions and getting them on my site. Glad you're reading!

Oh, you meant HERO's website... :joint:

Or oh I don't know, you could've shot a private email asking for assistance instead of putting it public?

That's crazy talk.

Whilst Omnigames' post may have been a little blunt, I do think he (or she) has a point as I have noticed that the product pages haven't been updated for quite a while. For example, if you go to the 2006 release schedule or the individual genre pages, the most recent release to be linked to a product page is Everyman. Since then You Gotta Have Character, The Ultimate Skill, Thrilling Places and Nobles, Knights, And Necromancers have all been released and none of them are linked. And the link to Evil Unleashed exists but doesn't work... at least not from the 2006 page, I haven't tried the Champions page.

Personally, I used to use these pages as a guide to what had been released and what hadn't because I find them far easier to navigate than the online store (which is basically just one huge long list) and the online store isn't an accurate guide anyway because books which are out of stock aren't listed. I used to check at least weekly, and it was always pretty much up to date. Obviously, I can't do that any more, so in the case of Thrilling Places for example I didn't even realise it had been released until after my FLGS had already sold out of all the copies they initially ordered, and I still haven't got it because their distributer is (presumably temporarily) out of stock.

The bottom line is, in my opinion, if these pages aren't kept at least reasonably up to date they ultimately become pointless, because they're neither providing accurate information nor helping to sell product.

While I agree with the above - the original post was in regards to Fantasy Hero, which is most certainly available for sale, just as a PDF.

And that PDF is on a different page than the one the Fantasy Hero page links to. A very minor point perhaps, but still valid. If a person follows the link and sees Fantasy Hero isn't there they may not even think about hitting the "E-books / PDFs" link. Considering the product pages are so out of date in general it may be a symptom of the same root problem.

Yeah, this does seem to be an issue. Fans know where to look, but newbies may get turned off by Hero's web site. That'd be a shame.

Thanks for all the response!
Sorry if my post was blunt but it was unintentional.
After reading thru the responses, I did find the link for the PDF version of Fantasy Hero; for now, that is quite adequate.

Perhaps in addition to splitting up the products into separate categories, it might be nice if there were an option to display ALL available products, whether in print, PDF, CD or any other form.

Thanks!

Just as a note, a full site redesign is on it's way. Dan talks about it in this thread (http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51138), if you're interested. He hasn't said anything about the update to the Store yet, other than noting that it will be redesigned as part of the refresh.

Could someone paraphrase the changes for the site re-design (or cut and paste Dan's Post here)? I asked to be put into the No NGD Group several months ago and, being penultimately happy with that decision, do not care to ask to be taken out of that group so I can look at the thread in question.

What I got out of that was that it'll probably look something like this:

http://www.herogames.com/herosite.htm

Emphasis in the discussion was on keeping things clean, uncluttered and still attractive looking. I think that image above was the final result (of the discussion, website may be tweaked, of course).

Having Haley Starshine from the Order of the Stick (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0247.html) write the sample web-site article, may not have been Hero Games best hiring decision. ;)

http://www.herogames.com/herosite.htm

With mention that there will be overall cleanups (the Digital Hero Login page) and other improvements (just an overall stylistic change for more contemporary tastes)
