View Full Version : Tuala Morn in time for Christmas?

While that is probably very wishful thinking, due to editing, reviewing bluelines and getting it printed, is there any chance we will see Tuala Morn in time for me to put it on my Christmas wish list? I know Steve said at one point that the most of the book was already written. If it won't be out in time for the holidays, are we looking at January? Will it be possible to preorder the book from the online store? I have been waiting since the book was first announced to get my grubby little hands on it. The wait is killing me. :D
Anyway, keep up the good work Steve and crew. IMHO, you guys definitely put out the best RPG supplements around.

It's possible, but I think unlikely, between the time required for layout, for bluelines, for printing, and for shipping during the busy holiday season. We'll do our best. ;)

OK, there's an awesome idea. St. Patrick's Day launch party for Tuala Morn at the Starry Plough! (http://www.starryploughpub.com/)

Heck, I might even swallow my dislike of driving to the East bay to make it.
It's been a few years since I hoisted a pint at the Plough.

Hows the parking? It is a bit far from the nearest BART station (a little over a mile) but if the parking sucks it might be worth it to walk...
Yeah, so I hate trying to find parking. So?

My memory of the parking situation is a bit fuzzy, but as far as I can recall, it doesn't suck too bad. Pretty typical for the area... Mght have to wander around a bit, and is typical for Oakland, Berkley & SF don't leave anything of value visible in your car (The big reason why I have't replaced thestereo that was ripped off from my car 2 years ago).
OTOH, The Starry Plough on St. Paddy's is insane. Parking might well be an issue.

Well, that's actually a good point. Maybe the launch party should be held a wee bit earlier (assuming the book is out)?
I've never been to the SP. I thought BART was reasonably close. A mile ain't too bad if the neighborhood is ok to walk in...
EDIT: Their site says "2 blocks east of Ashby BART," and I think that's what Google maps is showing also.
EDIT 2: If I did this right, this link (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=3100+Adeline+Street+Berkeley,+94703&ie=UTF8&z=18&ll=37.852602,-122.268117&spn=0.00183,0.005407&t=h&om=1) should show the BART on the left side of the screen, and the Starry Plough on the right.

There are also a bunch of good pubs in SF. Some might be closer to the BART lines than the Plough is.
Of course, maybe Steve will crank it out in time for Imbolg instead. A good & proper ancient Celtic festival, dedicated to the goddess of Inspiration, Poetry, War, Smithing, Magic, & Motherhood, Bridget.
Who is probably an excellent patron for the book, come to think of it ;)
Edit: Oh, yeah.... Imbolg is Feb 2nd

I thought Imbolc was Feb 1. and I thought Brigid was also the goddess of healing as well. :)
Cheers
But Yeah, Imbolc would be a perfect day for Toula Morn.

Healing as well, absolutely correct, which also overlaps with motherhood in midwifery.
Tricksty one, that Bridget.
The date has some wiggle room. the modern Candlemas is celebrated on the 2nd, but the actual old fire festivals lasted 3 days, dusk of the first day to dawn of the third. So we're both right :D
I have no idea why it wound up on the calander on the 2nd, but I usually celebrate it from the 31st to the 2nd.
You caught me on the spelling tho... For some reason my tired brain went all phonetic on me, a common mistake with gaelic, and one I don't usually make.
Stoopid dyslexia.
Rep for catching me out :celebrate

Yes, she is definately a tricksy one, which is probably why Catholocism had to incorporate her as Saitn Bridgit.
My Wife and I celebrate on the Evening of the 31st, which also happens to be our wedding anniversery (complete coincidence :) )

I'm always confused as to when Imbolc is, largely because I rarely celebrate it - very few of my friends are Pagan, and I don't really drink much, making most of MY holidays (as opposed to her holidays) quiet, nod to Luna sort of affairs. But I agree it would be a great launch date for TM.
Note: Still bitter with Steve for ditching the bestiary. People buy bestiaries, even if they don't have the setting. WRITE THE FREAKING BESTIARY.

Apparently AB1 and 2 sold poorly. Poorly enough that they decided another specialized Bestiary wouldn't recoup it's investment.
I actually blame distributors who, at this point in time, seem to be doing markey projections for the companies and ordering in low enough quantity it takes forever for any given area that isn't a "major market" to get any books at all. Assuming the distributors even stock the product (I believe it was mentioned that one didn't pick up any copies of Thrilling Places to distribute around).

Alas, almost no chance of TM being out by Christmas- Andy's not scheduled to be done with the layout until mid-December, so a more realistic date is around January 5-10. Mentalist is the "December Book." And Thia, we're sorry, but Asian Bestiary proved to us pretty conclusively that for the most part, people don't buy bestiaries by themselves. So please quit yelling at us. dw

If I thought it was worth Steve's time, I'd lobby for it to be released as a PDF only book. But I realize that it wouldn't be, so ah well.
Though Steve, if you're looking to get me something for my birthday...

Yeah, ditto. Although a few people did perk up at the idea of Tuala Morn Adventures PDFs though. Champions is big for HERO, but I think Fantasy is bigger overall. This might be worth a little marketing campaign to promote the book and PDFs that go with it. Plus promote the site make-over.

Well cool, now we totally have to do this.
Somewhat seriously, I think DOJ should totally promote a "launch party" to market the book. Have some fun with it. Say that copies of books will be flown in by helicopter, just like Sony did with the PS3s, and then Tina can show up with a little toy helicopter and some books. Post pics of the toy helicopter online too, it'll be funny. Get the Legion involved for some other local parties (i.e., drinking binges).
Etc. A little cheap marketing and free publicity never hurt anyone (well, the morning after hurts sometimes, but you gotta do what you gotta do ;)).
