Firefly Wiki actually has a gaming page that includes links to not only the official Firefly rpg, but also several other systems, including d20 Modern, GURPS, and Dogs in the Vineyard.

Here's the link:

Gosh, a wiki resource for a roleplaying system - what a good idea! It's kinda like a website, but players can add stuff to it!
;-p

(I'll just get back in my box now)

Actually, it's more about the show itself than the rpg, which is only one section.

Please get your facts straight before you get snarky.

I was trying to be funny (in relation to my signature), oh well.

Sorry. I'm feeling extremely cranky today.

It was unfortunately an injoke only known by those that follow the saga of me trying to create a wiki for the Hero System. Which is about 6 people :)

I saw an ad on the HD Uni channel for Firefly in HD. Anyone know what that's all about? I already can't keep up with BSG.

You must spread some Reputation before giving it to Curufea again.

Firefly is the saga of the crew of the Serenity, a tramp freighter prowling the human-occupied solar system known as the 'Verse in the aftermath of the bloody "Unification Wars". Suffice to say that the people on Serenity did not come out on top. They will take any job -- legality is no object, since they're on the run from the ruling Alliance anyway -- and the ship is refuge for a mentally shattered girl who might have the Alliance's deadliest secrets buried in her psyche along with innumerable other terrors....

The series is the brainchild of Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon, and bears many of his trademarks: a central cast that acts like a (frequently dysfunctional) family, secrets within secrets within secrets, and a superb ear for dialogue. Malcom Reynolds is one of the best examples of the archetype of the man living by his own code in a hostile, hypocritical world; he may give the appearance to the world of a bad man, but threaten his crew and his wrath is terrible indeed.

Although the series received quite a bit of acclaim, the Fox Network only allowed 17 episodes to be produced, only screened 14, and seemed to do everything possible to prevent the series from finding an audience. Whedon managed to convince Universal to let him produce a sequel feature film, Serenity, which the studio treated pretty much the same way; although it was probably the most acclaimed SF film of 2005 it only grossed some $7 million in domestic box office (vs. a budget of $35 million or so, which is still remarkably inexpensive for a modern SF film). However, the DVD sets of both the series and the movie have been very, very strong sellers, and the "Browncoats" have a devotion to their fandom Trekkers would envy. The term "Shiny" has even entered the popular vocabulary as an expression of approval.

The fandom has since largely involved itself in charitable activity and political advocacy; screenings of Serenity are often used to raise money for action groups like Equality Now.

I just had a crazy idea about using the Castle Falkenstein system for a Firefly game. Aside from a few modifications, it may actually work.

"A lot of people are asking me, you know, what exactly is Firefly? It's a tv show you morons!" - Joss Whedon

That could be http://www.fireflyseason2.com

AFAIK, Season 2 is still only a glint in the eyes of fandom. (I claim no insider knowledge; just what I read.) So if someone's advertising Firefly in HD I would suspect it's Season 1, same episodes that are already out, but in HD.

I doubt it will surprise anyone that Surbrook's Stuff hosts HERO writeups of several characters from the series: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationsmovie/moviechar.html#firefly

The HD Uni channel has been showing Firefly season one on Sunday nights at 7 PM eastern time. They're airing, or so far have aired, the shows in the original intended order. Last night's episode was War Stories.

EDIT to add link

Firefly MMORPG may be in the works. A company has gotten the rights to it. I have played Eve Online, have not played Star Wars. I enjoyed Eve, but one thing I would have liked is the ability to walk around as a person as opposed to be in a ship all the time. Eve's trading and economy were great though. Merge those two aspects together and the game might convince me to join. :)
