Hi,

I started a Thread in Hero System Discussion, but no one has an official answer. So…

Obviously you can’t leap 10” forward in a room with a 2” ceiling. So how do you figure it? I was thinking 1” forward for every 1” up, plus 1” forward for every 1” down so you could leap 3” in a room with a 2” ceiling.

Thanks for your time.

Hmmmm. I think you just have to apply common sense. Obviously in some situations the ceiling is too low for meaningful jumps; in others the GM should just remove a few inches or establish a maximum leaping distance.

If you really need a precise way of determining a solution, the formula you suggest seems reasonable to me. I've forgotten far too much of my geometry, so I don't know if there's a mathematical formula that would let you calculate that sort of arc -- but I bet there is one out there somewhere.
