They keep saying that it would be at the very least quite expensive to create an edited addition... I am certain that this is the unedited fred.

It's an exact copy of the first print run. Fixing errata, etc. would involve paying many thousands of dollars to literally print the book all over again, which is something we're not financially prepared to do at this point. We'll do it eventually, but when we do, we'll announce it loud and clear.

Perhaps preorders to offset the cost? :D

Actually as a side note, has the rate of errata on FREd frozen yet, or do errata still trickle in fairly regularly?

I know I may annoy some folks by saying this, but I don't think an errata-edited version of H5E is needed any time soon. If you look at the errata, the vast, vast majority of it is "meaningless" errata. (Things like layout errors, grammatical errors, misspellings that don't confuse the meaning of the sentence, etc.) Only a little bit of it is errata that might actually cause someone to be doing something in the game wrong.

IMO, this stuff can wait to be cleaned up until it can be included along with a more substantial update, such as including the HERO System Genre by Genre document, and so on.

However, it might be useful to make a list of just the "essential" errata for folks coming new to the book. Just show them the stuff that really matters.

Just my .02. :)

Well, I was also thinking of the fact that Steve has mentioned that Andy's layout skillz have progressed to the point where they equal page-savings, allowing for, say, the inclusion of some of the more salient FAQ points, or the more relevant clarifications of the base rules which have made thier way into Fantasy HERO, etc to make up the difference.

Arrgh, no! Correct errors and add pages to the end when the time comes, but don't change the layout! Do you realize the confusion that would cause when people try to cite page numbers when discussing the rules?

I haven't gotten any in a long time.

Anyway, the price of printing a new FREd would be better spent on new books, like Justice Inc. Hero:D
