I am looking for an existing group or people willing to start a group in the Marysville/Everett/Mulkilteo/Mill Creek area for a regular Hero game. I have been running aborted starts in the area since early October based out of the FLGS. But the big problem is most of the players are younger and unable to attend in anything even close to regular which means everything is a "one off". I am not setting blame because in the job versus game equation, the job wins. But I cannot have fun running nothing but “one off’s”. I like a campaign with a more involved plot line and especially love the reoccurring villain. I normally GM so I have a completely prepped and ready to go Pulp Campaign (with pregen PC’s for intro/start-up), a Champions (Anime influenced) campaign (pending final tweeks after PC creation), and a Fantasy Hero campaign that needs a couple of weeks to finish off. I also like playing and would be really like to find a Champs, Pulp, DC, or Anime influenced game to play in.

While Hero is my primary system, I am pretty open to other systems with a few exceptions. I just got done trying to play D&D 3.whatever it is now, and I just cannot take it or the D20’s I have seen. But it is almost the most non-intuitive system I have ever played since the 70’s.
“Cleave” is defined as:
1 : to divide by or as if by a cutting blow : SPLIT
2 : to separate into distinct parts and especially into groups having divergent views
3 : to subject to chemical cleavage <a protein cleaved by an enzyme>
intransitive verb
1 : to split especially along the grain
2 : to penetrate or pass through something by or as if by cutting
But the “FEAT” basically means “Hit Again”???????

Arrggghhhh

Anyway I digress. So basically I am not interested in D20. For the rest it mostly depends on the game world, I try to avoid munchkinism or dungeon crawls. When I overheard the discussion about the last Robotech game where the player was bragging that the maingun salvo from 13 (yes I said 13!!) SDF’s didn’t even scratch his PC, it made me decide “no Robotech for me”.

Akkk, digressing again.

So if you are in the Marysville/Everett/Mulkilteo/Mill Creek area and would like to play Hero (or have a slot for a player) for a regular (every week, every other week, every other Tuesday, Saturday, whatever) game that regular is defined as people actually showing up “regular”. I can host if needed, but would prefer to have at least some of the sessions at the FLGS to promote the system. But in the end I JUST WANT TO GAME.

Now you had to go and get me all curious, didn't you? I looked up your neck of the woods (I'm in Seattle proper) and it got me curious about whether or not you are north or south of Everett. I doubt I could commit to more than twice a month considering the drive, but still, you could file it under your definition of regular. Also, I've played a few one-offs of PH and FH myself, but I'm v. curious to see what a campaign would feel like. I drive a sedan, so if people could make it to my place in Capitol Hill I could run some folks up to you... Just a thought,

Marysville is North of Everett, and I live at the it's north edge. But I understand if people do not want to drive that far. I have no problem driving down if it is for an actual game. It's a long way traffic time wise, so my only real requirement is for the group to actually be there, or at least call/email early enough so the rest don't drive an hour for nothing.

For games I run, if I start a new game with a new group, I pre-generate the PC's. After a few sessions, if the players want to build their own concept (they now have a feel for the rules and the campaign tone) they can. Or they can just keep playing the PC they have.

I find a supers game easiest for teaching the system since I usually run a 4 color/low death game. Much more forgiving.

I have a job and generally get up at 5am and since I work north of my place, it makes it virtually impossible to get as far south as Lynwood before 5-6pm with traffic on a weekday, so I prefer to game on the weekend.

That all sounds very reasonable. I'm fairly new to the area, so I'm afraid I don't have a passel of people to bring along. But finding a midpoint could make it work for Seattle folks.

Have you thought about hooking up with the folks from Seattle Gamers Assemble? They're an RPG group with a pretty exstensive calendar of events & sessions. I'm planning to get to there lunch up in Lake Forest on Saturday. That'll give me a chance to meet some of them before I get involved. The SGA have a Yahoo group, so it should be easy for you to look them up.

What do you think?
