Well folks, having just re-read The Order of the Stick episode (#20) which featured the elf wizard Vaarsuvius 'nuking' a rampaging Chimera having just restocked his spell arsenal for the day, I was intrigued by the third spell he used and how it could be statted up in Fantasy HERO, specifically for the Turakian Age setting.
The spell in question is: Evan's Spiked Tentacles of Forced Intrusion
(The name pretty much describes its effects - OUCH!   )
Reputation will be awarded to the most "entertaining" :eg: design...

To see how this spell has developed over the years, we have to look to its predecessors.
The first spell: Michael's magic fingers, debately, was the first spell of this series. It enlongated the fingers and gave excellent tactile feedback. This spell ended up finding its way into many different parts of society, finding it uses in lockpicking, and chirurgery including dentistry. There was many uses for this spell, even though it's combat use had not been discovered.
1" Stretching (5 Active Points), Limited Body Parts: Fingers (-1), OIF (-1/2) Piece of dried squid. Plus +3 with Dex-Based skills (15 Active Points), Limited: Only skills which hand dexerity is critical (-1), OIF (-1/2) Piece of dried squid.
(8 Real Points)
The next spell was created by Evan at a younger age: Evan's Tenticles. Here the goal here was to show that the tenticles could be independent of the caster. It was discovered that the tenticles natural impulse was to grab and trap everything nearby. This could include the caster if he/she was not careful. Although Evan modified the spell to be more useful than this version, this is the version most available.
3 DEF, 3D6 BODY Entangle, Area Effect: Hexes, (60 Active Points), Gestures (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4), OIF (-1/2) Piece of dried squid, Requires Magic Skill Roll (-1/4), Side Effect: Caster entangles himself and his friends instead (-1) (20 real points)
Of course, the last version was not made by Evan at all, but Evan got all the blame. Note that unless the victim is unusually large, this will kill him rather quickly, although not quick enough for truely dedicated victims (i.e. berserkers).
Evan's Spiked Tenticles of Forced Intrusion
2d6 RKA, NND (+1) (Defense is not having a digestive tract), Does Body (+1), Continous (+1), (120 Active Points), Gestures (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4), OIF (-1/2) Piece of dried squid, Requires Magic Skill Roll (-1/4), Decreased STUN Multiplier 1d6-4 (-3/4), (40 Real Points)

The next spell was created by Evan at a younger age: Evan's Tenticles.
How young was he when he created this?
Oh, you said Evan's Tenticles. Right. Sorry, never mind

I think I wrote that up once... actually I have a character I RP with a friend who casts that spell obsessivly. (so much so my friends characters own an entire product line designed to defend against it...)
