View Full Version : Memory Problem?

This doesn't happen too often but it scares me when it does. While working on a prefab today I got a low memory warning. Attached is the prefab and the trace log at the point I saved my work and exited. Is this just a random fluke or is something wrong?
I am using Windows XP Media Center Edition with Service Pack 2. I updated my Java to the latest version just a couple of days ago. I have an Intel Pentium 4, 3.4 GHz with 2 Gb of RAM.

Most likely one of the plugins that you are using are chewing up your available memory. You'll either want to get rid of the plugins or look into increasing the memory that you give to HD (though this may have an effect on performance).

Thanks for the quick response. I'll move the plugins into a different directory until I really need to use them.

Are you currently running HD under the default 64MB memory cap?
If you are, bump that up to 256MB, I haven't seen any real performance problems when running this high. There might have been an ever so slight degredation in responsiveness, it didn't become atrocious until I had it up around 700MB+

I would strongly recommend not doing that, actually.
Run HD at the recommended memory settings unless you truly need to run more intensive plugins like you have installed.
The plan mentioned previously is what I would recommend.
