Firefly Games

You're invited to take part in an open playtest of a licensed new edition of Og, the classic comedy caveman game from Wingnut Games. The new edition, coming from Firefly Games later in 2007, features completely redesigned rules by Robin D. Laws. Check out the playtest conditions & instructions at Firefly-Games.com (http://www.firefly-games.com). (I know many Hero fans are from the Bay Area, and hence are familiar with earlier editions of Og, because Wingnut's also a local publisher).

Thanks for the notice. I've played Og at conventions in the past. It can be a quite funny game if you're in the right mood.
The main thing that stops be from immediately requesting rhe copy is figuring out when I would run a game in Portland and where I would find players.

Is that the one where you choose your vocabulary and it includes words like: "grunt", "ugh", "arg" and "verisimilitude"?

When I played Og, I chose I believe six words from a short list -- you decide which ones you think will be most useful. Thus, you can say "Bash big smelly thing", but not WHICH big smelly thing. You could still use English to describe your ACTIONS, but only your very small vocabulary to communicate ideas, strategies, etc,, augmented by gesture and the like.

You pick your caveman's vocabulary from a list of 18 words, including things like rock, smelly, big, food, etc. Verisimilitude is one of the words. I don't think a lot of people pick it, but it's worth a laugh. :)

Sounds potentially amusing.
Like B.C. Rock, the RPG.
"My father named me "Ugh". It was a pretty common name in our family, but I thought it jlacked flair, so I decided to call myself Stuey. Stuey Babcock. Pretty flashy eh?"
