I'm using this as a place to store my working notes on general guidelines of how to convert CoH/CoV characters into passable Heroclix. And since I know people on the boards play both, I thought I'd let others read them and comment.

To start, how many clicks should a CoH clix have? And how do you determine the clix level? (ie: Rookie, Experienced, Veteran)
To determine level, you can split a CoH chr into 3 general time periods: Rookie would be until about level 14, when they would get their travel power. Many characters will stretch this to almost 20. But the cut off would be the gaining of the full travel power. Experienced would start at 16-20 and go until the gaining of teir 10 powers at level 32-35. Veteran would consist of the rest of the hero's carreer until 50.

As to the number of clicks each character gets, you can sort by archtype.
Blasters, Controllers, and Masterminds get 4 clixs at rookie, 5 at Experienced, and 6 at veteran. (They are nicknamed squishies.)
Defenders, Scrappers, and Stalkers would get 5 at rookie, 6 at esperienced and 7 at veteran.
I still need to work out Corruptors and Dominators.

Once the character takes Health and Stamina from the Fitness pool powerset, they can add one click to their experience level. (Ie: taking the Fitness pool would give a Blaster 6 clicks at experienced and 7 at veteran.)

More to come...
Tankers and Brutes would get 7 at rookie, 8 at experienced, and 9 at veteran.

Determining range:
ranges for powers vary greatly. some are as short as 20 ft. and stretching the gammet to 175 ft.

As with everything else, a fudge factor is required.
If most of your powers fall 40 feet and below, or are called 'short range' in the power descriptor, then range should be about 4.

If most of your powers fall in the 'range: medium' category or are in the 40-60 range, then a range of 6 on the clix can work.

If most powers are around 80 feet, aor are described as 'long ranged' then a range of 8 is used.

If most powers are described as "long' or 'extreme' range (sniper blasts or the Def. Psychic Blast powerset), you can justify a range 10.

Most CoH characters will have powers that stretch thru all ranges. You have to also go by "What range do I normally work at?" If you get in close before attacking, then keep the range short. If you try and stand off, and fire from long distance, and use range enhancements, go longer.

In conjunction with range for Heroclix is number of targets. Most COH clix will only have 1 target. If you get a lot of AoE attacks then you can give yourself 2 or 3 targets.

Attack factors:
I'm trying to keep everything in line, so...

Base attack, on the top clix, for rookies should be 7, experienced 8, and veteran 9. If you slot most attack powers with 2-3 DOs or SOs then adjust the number up by one.
Note: since rookies end at approx lvl 15 then they do not benifit.

If you have used the +1 then the second clix drops back to base. If not then each 2 clix drops the attack factor by one. To a minimum of 5.

example: A scrapper vet, starts with an att of 10, his second and third clix is 9, his fourth and fifth is 8 and his sixith and seventh 7.

Movement:
Base move is 6. this should drop to a 5 by the end of the dial. Swift and/or Hurdle (fitness pool) can add 1 to that number for rookies. If you take Hover, your fig can get a flying base. After the Main movement power is taken (Fly, Super Jump, Super Speed, Teleport) you can increase the starting movement up for experienced and veteran figs. The actual number and clix progression depends on fighting style.

Also Combat Jumping and Super Jump gives a Figure "Leap/Climb". Teleport gives a figure "Phasing/Teleport", Superspeed, depending on fighting style, can give a person "Hypersonic Movement".

You might want to take a closer look at the CoH/CoV collector's edition HeroClix that are out already.
