Real....
real bull$#!t.
This has got to be a hoax. I can't believe that anyone (even the people putting out the drek that comics are today) would so totally screw up the history of two of the most famous characters ever.

Stupid work filters! What is it?
Supposedly this "book" is posted on the Amazon website. What follows is posted with the picture.
This is what a review said, and it's anonymous so we ain't sure of it's actuality.
This book reveals the secret history of Iron Man. I cant reveal how I got it because it may cost me my job (and no, I dont work for Marvel)
SPoilers ahead
We learn that Tony stark was never in the iron man suit!! From the beginning Steve Rogers was Iron MAN and Stark was just the public image/persona. Rogers was never frozen after WW2, It turns out that was his clone, part of the super soldier program (I guess they had cloning tech back in the 40's).
I'm guessing Stark and the Real Steve rogers will reveal this to the cloned Rogers at the end of CW.
Whoever OKed this stupid retconn should be fired. The art was pretty good though, Zircher does classic superheroes right.

Nice pic, though. I've often wondered what would happen if Captain America and Iron Man collided at high speed -- this must be the answer.!

And it would look great in a "What If?" story, but not in a canon storyline.Agreed. Either it's outside the canon, or we bring out cannons of our own. :bmk::eg:

Its obvious that Captain America was wounded along the long and got the Iron Man ticker and became Iron Man.

My guess is that the image is a real cover submission, and it's either a What If, s one-shot plotline where Tony makes Steve some armor (or creates his own "Captain America" to make up for Steve being anti-registration), or a metaphor for the two being on the same side.
And then the 'leaked' blurb is just someone stepping on anthills.

Misinformation accompanies the pic, I'm sure. But where does this fit in with the 'Iron Man, Leader of S.H.I.E.L.D.' cover I saw elsewhere?
Hey, maybe they have Iron Man become the new American super-hero, replacing Cap. One possible explanation, anyway.

Well, the ugly new Iron Man suit fits Marvel's current "Let's give everyone an ugly new suit" policy. As to the retcon, maybe. It's a damn stupid idea, but then Marvel is the House of Stupid Ideas.
Nah. This has "let's get the fans worked up" all over it.

I've seen that image before somewhere......maybe a what if where Iron Man made armor for many of the Avengers.
If this is becoming cannon, thank the heavens I stopped reading comics, before it happened.

Yes, yes but think!
This give us the oppotunity now to combine each of their arch enemies into a single baddie! I mean, if we're going to plumb the depths, let's go all the way, with cheeze whiz and everything!
Red Skull is the obvious one for Cap. Unfortunately, I stopped following shell head too many years ago to even know who's still alive and kicking.
Uh, the Red Mandarin maybe? (wait, isn't that a fast food chain? )
The Skull Melter?

Sounds like another Marvel "one month event". We'll probably get a weekly What If featuring Iron Man in different roles for a month (maybe some other characters follow in subsequent months).
My first read of the thread, before following the link, was that it referred to the Bullet Points limited series. Dr. Erskine dies before working on Steve Rogers, and he ends up instead in Project: Iron Man.

I haven't read the "Bullet Points" What-If type series - any chance that this is just a picture from it? I hear Steve Rogers was Iron Man in that story.
Someone with Photoshop and an axe to grind with fanboys may be to blame, too... Nah. No one on the internet would want to deliberately mislead someone else!

well i guess it makes sense in the terms of civil war if tony stark won then they would want there own captain America and having him in stark armour rather than having super soldier serum would make him more controllable the shield would have to be a reproduction as the original would still Be in the hands of the fugitive Steve rogers or some such

I could see Cap getting 'fired' again somehow, or the government disavowing him and Stark repainting his suit to tug on the RWB heartstrings, especially since Quesada and Co. seem to think that the fascists are the good guys ...

Awesome image, great for a "What If...?" Also reminds me of a character I played in game set in the Marvel Universe, where the Avengers and the FF never returned from "Heroes Reborn." As for the text? Total BS.

About the picture and the Amazon listing:
NRAMA: Well then, you may need to address this for us. Over at Amazon, there's a listing for Iron Man: Steve Rogers>o?, a new collection of Iron Man coming in June. For spoiler's sake, we won't go into too much detail about the contents, but it appears that Tony Stark will be taking a role with S.H.I.E.L.D. ... first off - many people are suggesting this is misdirection or a teaser cover...is it real? Anything you can say about the description?
JQ: Sorry, Matt, I went to the link and there's nothing there. Can't help you with this one.
NRAMA: Okay, there was a listing – and it’s been seen all around, with a figure in a red, white and blue “Iron Man” suit. Publishing strategy-wise, how do things like this get out so early?
JQ: In all seriousness, this is the constant battle that we have to fight between promoting our books and keeping storylines as secretive as possible. Also, with so many different and growing avenues by which to solicit our product mistakes are bound to occur, especially as all these different avenues have different solicitation cycles.
It doesn't make me happy, but it's the cost of doing business on a larger scale.
