Question re: updated jar file for new version 3 owner

I just purchased Version 3 today. Is the jar file the latest version or do I have to go to the HERO Designer Update site for the latest version?

The installer will provide you with the base version of HDv3 -- you'll want to grab the most recent update off of the support site to bring it fully up to date.
