View Full Version : Possible Bug with SPD Buy Back

I've noticed that when I try to buy back some SPD, I don't get any points for the first step.

Ex.: A character has a DEX of 23. His base SPD is 3.3. If I give him a SPD of 4, it costs 7 points, but if I lower his SPD to 3, I don't get any points back. If I lower the SPD to 2, I get 10 points back (total, not 13).

Did I miss something in the rules or is this a bug?

Also, I've seen a lot of questions about modifiers, specifically asking where they are. The inevitiable answer is usually that the conditions for that modifier appearing were not met. As an improvement for this problem, why not list all of the modifiers, but show the invalid modifiers in a different font. If the user tried to select one of these, he would get a message indicating why it wasn't available.

What do you think?

You do not get any points back for "partial SPD". Per Steve Long.

As for the modifiers, wait until v2....

Workaround: Buy your DEX up to 20, then buy the last 3 points No Figured Characteristics. You save exactly as many points as it would take to buy back your SPD.

Heck, if you want a 23 DEX character with 2 SPD, buy 13 DEX, No Figured Characteristics. It costs exactly the same.

In fact, for every possible combination of DEX and SPD, you end up paying a net 2 points per point of DEX and 1 point per tenth-point of SPD, regardless of whether you buy your DEX at NFC or whether you buy back your SPD. (IMO, the no-buyback of decimal SPD is a silly rule because of this.)
