Hardened Mental defense

So the ultimate mentalist states that all mental attacks do not do killing damage, yet the super mage book has mental attacks that do.

So in 5th edition is all mental defense considered to be hardened or not?

No defense is automatically Hardened. If you want it, ya gotta pay for it. ;)
