HD 1.46, Win2000 (under Virtual PC). When I open my character file in HD, I get an "Error retrieving template" error message:
"An error occurred retrieving the template used for the saved character. Using 'Standard Super' template.
Error Message: Error on line 539 of document file S:/Koan.hdc: Illegal character at end of document, E."
Clicking OK results in a second error:
"Error loading template: An error occurred loadig the template. Data loss may occur if you save. Please shut down Hero Designer and restart." This is followed by the same "Error Message" text as before.
I looked at Koan.hdc, and it doesn't have a line 539 (it's 490 lines long). I removed the two trailing linefeeds just to see what happened, but there was no effect. Then I tried looking at the .hdt file referenced by the error, but I couldn't see anything wrong with its line 539 (definition of CON cost) either -- no extra 'E' at the end of the line, for example.
Maybe I should edit my .hdc file to specify a different template? Any help appreciated!
Cheers,
Ben
P.S. I've enclosed the HDC file in question in case it helps.
