"Conan - what is best in life?"
"To crush de Uruk-Hai, to see dem driven before you, and to hear de lamentation of de hobbits!"
He could punch out a Fell Beast instead of a camel...
"An eigh! Liek dis!" (while putting his fingers together in an oval shape)
"Dat steel onlee cownts az wahn!"
From Gandalf:
"I'm a wizard, mind you!"
(would Mako as Gandalf not be 700 kinds of awesome?)

I want to see Conan go toe-to-toe with the Balrog. And survive.

I don't think even Conan could pull that off. He'd have used the same bridge-breaking trick as Gandalf, except he'd do it by hurling a chunk of stone from the rubble that No Other Man Could Lift.
Now Conan one-on-one with a troll would be awesome!

That's just sick. I know it gets lonely in those vast Hyborian wastes but... oh, you mean fighting. Sorry.

Conan would strangle the Balrog with its own fiery whip.
Hey -- what about Chuck Norris? How many seconds would you give Mr. Flameboy against him?

I didn't think it would take long for someone to come out with that  , but I figured Mightybec would be first. Didn't give you enough credit, "V". :sneaky:

In his own way, "V" is pretty twisted. :)

Mako?!!! Oh, I am suffering from geek overdose, man.
Other thoughts:
Thulsa Doom as Saruman
The irony when Valeria spouts her favorite line "do you wanna live forever" to a bunch of elves (whom undoubtedly fail to see that irony)

Chuck Norris is the reason Balrogs are extinct now. The only reason we even know the name "Balrog" is because he hasn't decided to destroy that too.
Yet.

No he wouldnt. Chuck Norris would do it first......and better.
Chuck Norris.....Dead Men of Dunharrow? Wouldnt need them. In fact he'd just tell the Rohirrim to go home, and tell the Gondorians to take a mass vacation. While he went in to fight......alone.

I can so see Conan, in hacked and battered plate, standing there with a broken sword in one hand and a riven shield in the other, surrounded by a virtual carpet of dead orcs.

With Mako's voice, if he'd said it the balrog would've backed off. :angst:

I'm pretty sure Valeria would win.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

LOTR would be a so much shorter story if the eagles had shown up before the hobbits left the Shire... Or there were halfling attack helicopters.. Or Frodo had been found as an infant by Bilbo in a crater in a farm field surrounded by strange, green-glowing meteor fragments.
And how would Thulsa Doom fair in a throw-down with Saruman? I'm pretty sure the Balrog would easily roast any 60' serpent for dinner, if we're comparing epic monsters.. The Dreaming God, though, might stand a chance. I'm not sure how Conan's current forces (The California National Guard?) would do against the armies of Mordor, but it'd be worth it to see that army of ghosts go up against the Black Ships on surfboards and seadoos.

Valeria and Eowyn would probably be a pretty close match. But I'd rather it be swords than claws - frankly, catfights do nothing for me.

Alternatively, Conan is one of the pirates coming up the river. He manages to escape the army of the dead and makes it to shore a few miles downstream, having lost most of his gear and all of the loot he's gained over the past few months with the reavers, and gets involved in some side-adventure largely if not totally unrelated to the War of the Ring.
