View Full Version : Metal Elementalist?

One of my players has expressed an interest in playing a metal-based elementalist.
So far, he has suggested the ability to improve his armour, strength and weight on-the-fly; corrode, mold and melt metal; and some magnetic powers.
Any other ideas on how metal elementalism might be usefully applied in a fantasy environment?

This is a supers character, but her shtick is metal based Alchemy. You can probably glean some usable stuff from her:

(Character sheets are linked at the bottom)
Here are a bunch of Geomancy spells. The modifiers are particular to my Vancian Magic System, but the core effects can be cannibalized where they relate to metals:

If you have access to the Fourth Edition Fantasy HERO Companion, that book included a whole "spell college" of elemental metal magic, including some of the effects you describe.
More to the immediate point, our board colleague Mark "Markdoc" Doherty has created an extensive online catalogue of HERO fantasy spells, The Ultimate Grimoire (http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Castle/9529/Gaming_stuff/Grimoire/the_ultimate_grimoire.htm), including a number of spells of metal magic. If you click on the grimoire's "Spell Index" link, and then find the Elementalism (Metal) category, you'll find the listing of those spells. Hopefully some of them will work for you and your player.

Thanks, guys, I'll take a look at both of those.
Edit: Pretty sure there's some stuff there I can use. Thanks again.
I also bothered to pull out the FH Grimoire and take a look, and what do you know? Metal spells. Who woulda thunk it?

The really old FGU game Bushido has a College of Metal Magic, not surprisingly since Metal is one of the 'elements' in that game (the elements being Fire, Air, Water, Wood and Metal). The game is positively ancient now, but PDFs are still available (Darts of Metal was a fun little spell in that game, I recall).
