View Full Version : How to set browser for HD?

This is probably a FAQ, but I cannot find it... How does one specify which browser to use to display the character when you do the character preview?
There must be a system property you can set (I'm not using Windows, so setting the default browser won't work unless the app checks an environment variable for it), but which?
On that note... is there any interest in code contributions? I had made some XSLTs for taking lists of chracters and formatting combat records and was working on a die-roller app that read the characters in and populated the table of rolls with the character's powers...

Under Windows, HD uses whatever browser is set as the default. Basically, it's just passing the call off to run32.dll
Under Linux, Solaris, etc., it's running mozilla/netscape...the one browser that it can (generally) safely assume is present.
On v2, I will likely have app prefs which will allow you to specify (among many other things) the location of your preferred browser.
I will also be including combat record functionality in the exports....

Under Mac OS X, copied from a Windows installation, it just doesn't invoke the browser at all.
But that's what happens when you use an unsupported OS.

DSIMON,
If you read this, please consider the following functionality for any of the "app prefs", if appropriate.
If you leave the "app pref" blank, HD would use the original (v1) functionality, so it would still do a call to run32.dll under Windows.

That would be the plan....
